PSG vs Toulouse prediction

Toulouse will be aiming to get revenge on PSG for the Ligue 1 defeat when the two teams take on each other in Coupe de France last 32 on Tuesday evening. Les Parisiens are eager to defend the trophy whey won last season, but they can’t afford any complacency.

PSG – Laurent Blanc’s unstoppable machine

Paris Saint-Germain did remarkably well to win the treble last season and they are eager to defend their trophies in the 2015/2016 campaign. Les Parisiens have already got their job done in Ligue 1 as they are 21 points clear of second-placed Monaco in the standings after 21 rounds. Laurent Blanc’s men are playing on four fronts this season, but the French tactician has a number of high-profile players to choose from and his rotation policy is proving fruitful. PSG recorded a hard-fought 1-0 win over Toulouse at the weekend and they will be aiming to register yet another triumph over les Pitchouns when the two teams take on each other in the French Cup last 32 on Tuesday evening. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the winner for les Parisiens in the Stadium Municipal clash, but the Swedish veteran is likely to be rested in the Coupe de France game. Edinson Cavani should return to the starting XI and the opposition defenders are likely to have their work cut out for them when facing the Uruguayan forward.

Thiago Silva is sidelined with injury, with Javier Pastore likely to miss the match as well after picking up a knock in the Ligue 1 clash at the weekend. Angel Di Maria and Marquinhos are both doubtful.

Les Pitchouns hungry for revenge

Despite producing a fine performance against PSG in Saturday’s league match Toulouse eventually suffered a 1-0 loss to les Parisiens in front of home fans. The team dropped to the relegation zone in the Ligue 1 standings and seeing that the team’s main goal is to secure yet another top flight survival, I would not be surprised if coach Dominique Arribage decides to rest his key players for Sunday’s league game against Monaco. Toulouse outclassed Entente 5-0 in the Coupe de France round of 64, but PSG will certainly pose a much bigger threat for les Pitchouns than their previous rivals. Dominique Arribage’s men recorded their last win at Parc des Princes back in 2008 and I do not believe that they are capable of shocking the defending champions in the French Cup last 32 on Tuesday.

Pavle Ninkov, Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik and Abel Enrique Aguilar Tapia remain in the recovery room, but coach Dominique Arribage has no other selection worries ahead of the trip to Paris.

Quick Facts

  • PSG are eyeing their ninth home win at home ground
  • Les Parisiens suffered their last defeat at Parc des Princes on 15 April
  • Laurent Blanc’s troops are after their 10th French Cup trophy
  • Toulouse failed to beat PSG in previous 14 meetings between the two teams
  • Les Pitchouns suffered two defeats in previous three away games in Coupe de France

PSG vs Toulouse betting tip

PSG are enjoying yet another season to remember. Les Parisiens are brimming with confidence ahead of Tuesday’s game against Toulouse and given their impressive home record, there is every chance the capital club will extend their winning run to 11 games in all competitions. Toulouse are fully focused on the Ligue 1 as their top flight status is in danger and the visitors will not be too disappointed should they happen to suffer elimination in the French Cup last 32.

Tip: PSG to win to nil
