Inter vs Napoli prediction

After recording a routine win over Verona in their last league match, Napoli will be looking to keep their hopes of winning the Scudetto alive with a triumph over Inter at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. The Nerazzurri aim to stay in the race for a place in the Champions League, meaning that a lively contest is on the cards.

Champions League dream

Inter quickly bounced back from a 2-1 loss to Torino, with the team beating Frosinone 1-0 at the weekend. The Nerazzurri recorded a very important victory on Matchday 32, but they need to keep on collecting points in days to come if they are to climb to the Champions League berth. Roberto Mancini’s men are six points behind third-placed Roma in the Serie A standings and they are eager to grab something from Saturday’s derby against Napoli. Inter have been producing fine displays at home ground this season and the fact that they recorded four wins in last five home fixtures in the league is giving the fans a reason for optimism ahead of the visit of Napoli. Manuel Icardi scored the winner against Frosinone, meaning that the opposition defenders should have him at bay on Saturday evening.

Adem Ljajic misses the match with injury, but he is the only absentee in the home team. Roberto Mancini is unlikely to make too many changes to the team that faced Frosinone at the weekend.

Routine win over Verona

Napoli do not want to give up on their Scudetto dream. Thanks to a 3-0 win over rock-bottom Verona Napoli managed to keep their title hopes alive but they are still six points behind league leaders Juventus in the Serie A standings. The Partonepei, though, should at least secure their place in the Champions League group stages and, no doubt, Maurizio Sarri is doing a great job with the Estadio San Paolo outfit. The Neapolitans are likely to stick to their attacking style of play in Saturday’s clash against Inter and it remains to be seen if they are capable of starting a new winning run on the road after dropping three points in the 3-1 loss to Udinese at “Friuli”. Gonzalo Higuain has netted 30 goals in 31 Serie A fixtures this season, but seeing that the team’s top scorer misses the match through suspension, Gabbiadini is likely to lead the attack for the visitors against Inter.

Gonzalo Higuain has yet to serve his ban, but coach Maurizio Sarri has no fresh injury worries ahead of the trip to Milano. The Napoli boss is likely to stick to the 4-3-3 formation.

Quick Facts

  • Napoli suffered only three defeats in last 31 league games
  • Over 2.5 goals were scored in eight of their last nine meetings at Giuseppe Meazza
  • Partenopei recorded only one win in last five away games
  • Inter registered four victories in previous five home fixtures in the Serie A
  • Nine goals were scored in last three meetings between the two teams

Inter vs Napoli betting tip

Both Inter and Napoli are likely to go for a win in Saturday’s Serie A derby. The Nerazzurri are eyeing a place in the Champions League, while the Partenopei aim to stay in the race for Scudetto. When the two sides met in Naples in the reverse fixture Napoli recorded a 2-1 win over Inter and, taking everything into account, there is every chance we will see goals galore at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Tip: Both teams to score
