Daily newspaper Libero has learned that Newell’s Old Boys full-back Luis Advincula is almost certain to miss the 2016 Copa America Centenario.
The 26-year-old has been one of Peru’s most consistent performers over the last few years and he has played every minute in six 2018 World Cup qualifiers.
However, having been spotted partying late into the night ahead of the March qualifier against Venezuela, Advincula is now set to pay the price for unprofessional behaviour.
According to Libero, Peru coach Ricardo Gareca has decided not to take the highly rated defender to the 2016 Copa America Centenario, and the national team bosses have backed his decision.
Real Betis full-back Juan Manuel Vargas is also in hot water after arriving late at training sessions, but his participation at the tournament in the United States should not be in question.
Meanwhile, Serie B top scorer and Juventus target Gianluca Lapadula is expected to accept Peru call-up and represent the country of his mother at the Copa America.
