Olympique Marseille vs Lorient prediction

Olympique Marseille will be looking to put an end to their three-game losing run in all competitions when they take on Lorient at Stade Velodrome on day 10 of the 2015/2021 Ligue 1 campaign. Les Merlus have recorded four wins in last five league matches and they are surely capable of making life difficult for OM.

Promising performance against PSG

Despite suffering a 2-1 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Ligue 1 derby, Olympique Marseille did not produce a bad display against les Parisiens at Parc des Princes. OM even had a penalty saved in the second half of the match and many people believe that they deserved to pick up one point from the clash. Anyhow, Michel’s are on a three-game losing run in all competitions and they will surely give their best to return to winning ways when they host Lorient at their Stade Velodrome on Sunday. The Spanish tactician has a number of high-profile players to choose from and I believe that the time has come for the French giants to start a new winning run in the national championship. Michy Batshuayi has been scoring goals for fun this season and he will be the man to watch in the home side in Sunday’s encounter against Lorient.

Important midfielder Abdel Barrada misses the match with injury, while former Arsenal man Abou Diaby is out of contention due to the lack of fitness. Jacques-Alaixys Romao is rated doubtful.

Four wins in last five matches

Lorient have been in a fine form of late. Les Merlus have registered four victories in last five league fixtures and they head into Saturday’s match against Olympique Marseille following a come-from-behind win over Bordeaux (3-2). Sylvan Ripoll is doing a great job with the Stade Yves’Allainmat – Le Moustouir outfit and his men surely want to retain their place in the top half of the standings. Lorient have netted 12 goals in last five league matches and the fact that they outplayed OM in their last meeting at Stade Velodrome is surely giving the fans a reason for optimism ahead of the trip to Marseille. It has to be noted, though, that coach Sylvan Ripoll has some selection worries ahead of Sunday’s Ligue 1 clash and it remains to be seen if the visitors are capable of upsetting Michel’s troops this time out. Benjamin Moukandjo, who has netted four goals this season, is widely expected to lead the attack for the visitors against Olympique Marseille.

Lamine Gassama and Rafidine Abdullah are both sidelined through suspension, while Benjamin Jeannot and Wesley Lautoa both miss the trip to Marseille with injury. Majeed Waris should recover in time to face OM, but Raphael Guerreiro is doubtful.

Olympique Marseille vs Lorient betting tip

When the two sides met at Stade Velodrome last term Lorient recorded a thrilling 5-3 win over Olympique Marseille. Les Merlus have been impressive in front of goal of late and seeing that OM are desperate to return to winning ways in the national championship, there is every chance we will see a high-scoring affair in Marseille. Taking everything into account, I believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score.

Tip: Both teams to score
