Frosinone vs Sampdoria prediction

Sunday’s match at Stadio Comunale Matusa sees newcomers Frosinone take on ninth-placed Sampdoria on day 8 of the 2015/2021 Serie A campaign. Roberto Stellone’s troops aim to escape the relegation zone, but beating Walter Zenga’s men is easier said than done.

Only one win in seven matches

Frosinone finished the 2014/2015 Serie B campaign and, as a result, they secured promotion to the Serie A for the first time in the club’s history. The Canarini, though, do not seem to be competitive at this level and, as expected, they have been struggling in the Italian top flight so far. Roberto Stellone’s charges have recorded only one win in seven league fixtures this term, with the team beating Empoli in front of home fans. Frosinone struggle on the travels and it has to be mentioned that they have netted no more than one goal in four away fixtures in the 2015/2021 Serie A campaign. The Canarini sit in the relegation zone ahead of Sunday’s game against Sampdoria, but the hosts will surely give 100% to pick up all three points from the match and escape bottom three. Top scorer Dionisi is widely expected to lead the line for the hosts against La Samp.

Diakite and Longo return to contention, meaning that coach Roberto Stellone has a full squad to choose from ahead of the Sampdoria game. Ciofani and Castillo are likely to be deployed up front in the 4-4-2 formation.

Poor away record

Sampdoria were on the verge of beating Inter just before the international break. Walter Zenga’s team totally outplayed the Nerazzurri at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris, but Roberto Mancini’s men eventually scored the equalizing goal and picked up one point from the game. La Samp once again proved their worth in front of home fans, but the team’s away record is anything but impressive. The team have picked up no more than one point from possible nine in three away fixtures this term, but the visitors are surely capable of beating their Sunday’s opponents Frosinone at Stadio Comunale Matusa. Sampdoria aim to retain their place in the top half of the standings, but Sunday’s match against the relegation-struggling side will be anything but a walk in the park for the visitors. Striker Eder produced a brilliant display in the 1-1 draw with Inter and he will be the man to watch in the away team. You should have in mind that the 28-year-old attacker has netted six goals in seven league matches in the 2015/2021 Serie A campaign. Antonio Cassano, though, is not as sharp as he used to be in the past and he is unlikely to start the match.

Fernando is banned, while Coda, Silvestre, Christodoulopoulos and Krsticic all miss the trip to Frosinone through injury, whilst Rodriguez is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day.

Frosinone vs Sampdoria betting tip

Sampdoria are superior to Frosinone at the moment, but given the team’s poor away record, I am not sure if there is a big value in betting on the visitors this time out. The newcomers struggle in front of goal and, taking everything into account, there is every chance we will see a low-scoring affair at Stadio Comunale Matusa. The two teams have never met before in the Italian top flight.

Tip: Under 2.5 goals
