Manchester City vs Sevilla prediction

Having revived their hopes of reaching the knockout stages with a hard-fought win over Borussia M’gladbach, Manchester City head into the game against Sevilla looking to make another important step towards the next stage. Los Rojiblancos may be in front on goal difference in the group standings, but their dismal away form is a major cause for concern.

Sterling, Bony back amongst the goals

The start of the new campaign has been a genuine rollercoaster ride for Manchester City, who went from hero to zero and back again in just a couple of months. And in spite of some early season struggles, this team clearly have plenty of potential following the arrival of De Bruyne, Sterling, Otamendi and Delph, and it’s not just the matter of trying to cope with the growing injury list. Manchester City did well to recover from the run of three defeats in four games, having showed a great deal of character to overcome a poor performance against Borussia M’gladbach and record a valuable win that kick-started their Champions League campaign. Even with Sergio Aguero and David Silva picking up injuries, the Citizens hammered the likes of Newcastle United and AFC Bournemouth in their next two games, meaning they go into the Sevilla clash in excellent spirits. And with Raheem Sterling and Wilfried Bony finally back to scoring ways, the hosts shouldn’t have too many problems against one of the worst travellers in the competition.

Manuel Pellegrini should have his captain Vincent Kompany back to the side, but Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Aleksandar Kolarov, Fabian Delph, Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy all miss out.

Manchester City is available at 8/1 exclusive price to win vs Sevilla.

Motion sickness pills anyone?

Impressive performances at their Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan were the main reason behind Sevilla’s back to back Europa League titles, but it would appear as though los Rojiblancos have serious problems with their away form. Unai Emery’s side were never a force to be reckoned with on the road, but they have hit a new low this term, which could have something to do with the fact that several star players left the club in the summer. It looks as though the squad rebuilding process is still not complete and while Sevilla continue to perform well on home soil, they have been utterly disappointing on the road. Los Rojiblancos are winless in four away matches in La Liga despite facing minnows Malaga, Levante, Las Palmas and Eibar, whereas the 2-0 defeat in the Champions League clash with Juventus was by no means harsh on the Spanish side given their indifferent performance. And with some important players missing the trip to Etihad, it is not realistic to expect that Unai Emery will miraculously find a cure for team’s motion sickness in the next couple of days.

Fernando Llorente, Michael Krohn-Dehli and Sergio Escudero are all in the squad, but Beto, Daniel Carrico, Gael Kakuta and Nicolas Pareja remain sidelined.

Manchester City vs Sevilla betting tip

Manchester City have seriously raised their form of late and having scored 11 goals in last two matches, they have rightly been made favourites to claim maximum points. Sevilla, on the other hand, have been utterly disappointing on the road and another away defeat appears on the cards.

Tip: Home win
