Manchester City vs PSG prediction

Seeing that PSG and Manchester City played out a 2-2 draw at Parc des Princes in the Champions League quarter-finals, first leg, there is every chance we will see an entertaining encounter at Etihad Stadium on Tuesday evening. A place in the Champions League semis is at stake and it remains to be seen who will have a reason for celebration this time out.

Fine performance in the “City of Lights”

Manchester City were regarded as big underdogs in the Parc des Princes clash, but the Citizens produced a splendid display against PSG in the first leg and they totally deserved to share the spoils with the Ligue 1 champions. Manuel Pellegrini’s men are with one foot in the semis, but they need to take Tuesday’s game against les Parisiens very seriously if they are to reach the semi-finals of the elite competition for the first time in the club’s history. Man City have been in a fine form of late and they did well to beat the likes of Bournemouth and WBA in last two league games. The confidence is soaring at Eithad Stadium ahead of the visit of PSG and the good news for the fans is that important midfielder Yaya Toure returns to the starting line-up after missing the first leg. Kun Aguero is likely to lead the line for the hosts and, no doubt, PSG defenders should have him at bay.

David Silva and Vincent Kompany are both sidelined with injury, but aforementioned midfielder Yaya Toure should be recalled to the starting line-up. Samir Nasri should replace David Silva in the starting XI.

Must-win situation

Paris Saint-Germain were on the verge of beating Manchester City at their Parc des Princes, but following a defensive error by the PSG defence Fernandinho scored the equalizer for the Citizens. As a result, Laurent Blanc’s troops face a must-win situation in Tuesday’s clash at Etihad Stadium and, no doubt, the French tactician is going to count all of his big guns this time out. PSG have no other choice but to go all-out attack, but beating Manchester City on the road is easier said than done. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has a penalty saved in the first leg, but the Swedish attacker is enjoying yet another season to remember and he is likely to pose a big threat for the opposition back line. Lucas Moura was sorely missed in the first leg, but the Brazilian attacker should be recalled to the starting line-up and he will play up front, alongside Ibra and Cavani. Anyhow, PSG need to record a win over Man City or to play out a high-scoring draw with the Premier League side if they are to make it to the Champions League semis.

Blaise Matuidi and David Luiz are both out of contention through suspension, while Marco Verratti is unlikely to recover in time to face Manchester City. Javier Pastore is rated doubtful.

Quick Facts

  • Man City failed to score in two of their last three home games
  • Over 2.5 goals were scored in Man City’s last three matches
  • PSG are eyeing their fifth consecutive win on the road
  • Les Parisiens scored 2+ goals in each of their last five games in the Champions League
  • Over 2.5 goals were scored in four of PSG’s last five matches in the CL

Manchester City vs PSG betting tip

Both Manchester City and PSG are likely to stick to their attacking style of play, meaning that a high-scoring affair appears on the cards. Les Parisiens need to go all guns blazing at the Citizens and given that important defenders David Luiz misses the game through suspension, there is a big value in betting on both teams to score.

Tip: Both teams to score
