French newspaper L’Equipe is reporting that Newcastle United have made a £19m bid for Olympique Lyon ace Alexandre Lacazette.
The 24-year-old was on the verge of leaving the Stade de Gerland outfit in the summer, but eventually all negotiations broke down.
Newcastle United are desperate to secure the Premier League survival and seeing that they were struggling in front of goal in the first half of the season, the club have submitted an offer for Lacazzette that would see them break the transfer-fee record.
The club owners are not satisfied with the showings of Aleksandar Mitrovic and Papiss Cisse as the duo has netted no more than five goals in total this season so far.
Olympique Lyon reportedly will not let the French attacker leave the club for less than £23m and it remains to be seen if Newcastle United are willing to match the asking price.
Alexandre Lacazette scored 27 goals for les Gones in the 2014/2015 Ligue 1 campaign, while netting six goals in the French national championship this term, but he does not appear too ken on joining the Magpies.
