PSG vs Bastia prediction

PSG will be aiming to strengthen their bid on the Ligue 1 trophy with a victory over relegation strugglers Bastia on Friday evening. Les Parisiens are after their seventh consecutive win at home ground, but the title holders should take the match very seriously.

Impressive home record

PSG have been producing outstanding performances in the Ligue 1 this season and they are on the right track to defend the domestic trophy. Les Parisiens sit in top place in the standings ahead of Matchday 20 and they are 19 points clear of second-placed Monaco at the moment. The capital club aim to get their job done in the national championship as soon possible as they have big ambitions for the 2015/2016 Champions League campaign. Laurent Blanc’s men have been impressive at their Parc des Princes this term and it has to be noted that they have netted 18 goals in previous four home games. PSG should not afford any complacency in Friday’s game against Bastia and I believe that Laurent Blanc is going to field the best possible side against the relegation-threatened team. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the winner for les Parisiens in the Coupe de France triumph over Wasquehal and he will certainly pose a big threat for the opposition defenders.

Edinson Cavani returned to training and he could play some part in Friday’s game against Bastia, but Javier Pastore has yet to overcome his injury. Full-back Maxwell is likely to return to the starting line-up.

Bastia eyeing first away win

Bastia did well to beat Reims in their final game in 2015 and thanks to the victory the team moved away from the relegation zone. However, seeing that they are just five points clear of bottom two their top flight status is certainly in danger. Les Bleus head into Friday’s league game against PSG following a 2-0 win over Sedan in the French Cup, but les Parisiens will pose a much bigger threat for the relegation strugglers than their previous rivals. Bastia have been struggling on the travels this season as they have yet to record an away win in the 2015/2016 Ligue 1 campaign. Ghislain Printant’s troops should not be looking for a win at Parc des Princes and I do not believe that away win should be considered. You should have in mind that Bastia have yet to defeat les Parisiens in the “City of Lights”, speaking of competitive matches.

The likes of Hansen, Diallo and Kamano are all likely to miss the trip to Paris with injury, but coach Ghislain Printant has no other selection worries ahead of the match.

Quick Facts

  • PSG are after their seventh consecutive win at home ground
  • Les Parisiens have kept only one clean sheet in last five home fixtures in the league
  • PSG scored 4+ goals in each of their previous four games at Parc des Princes
  • Bastia failed to score in previous two games against PSG
  • Les Bleus recorded their last away win in Ligue 1 back in May 2015

PSG vs Bastia betting tip

PSG are after their eighth consecutive win in all competitions and they are high on confidence ahead of the visit of Bastia. Les Bleus struggle on the travels and seeing that over the years les Parisiens have turned their Parc des Princes into a real fortress, anything but a routine home win will be a major surprise in Friday’s game. In their last meeting in the French capital PSG recorded a 2-0 win over Bastia, with Lucas Moura and Edinson Cavani scoring for Laurent Blanc’s troops.

Tip: PSG to win to nil
