Bayer Leverkusen vs Wolfsburg prediction

All eyes will be at BayArena when Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg take on each other in the opening match of day 28 of the 2015/2016 Bundesliga campaign. The Wolves are eyeing their fifth consecutive win over Bayer, but Roger Schimdt’s troops are eager to put an end to the negative trend.

Signs of improvement

Despite failing to impress in a game against Hamburg, Bayer Leverkusen managed to beat die Rothosen on Matchday 26 and thanks to the win the team stopped the run of four matches without a win in the Bundesliga. To make things even better for the fans, Bayer did well to upset Stuttgart at Mercedes-Benz-Arena in their last league game and their fresh confidence will be tested in Friday’s clash against star-studded Wolfsburg. Roger Schmidt’s troops are eyeing a place in the Champions League and, no doubt, the hosts will go for a win in the opening match of day 28. Javier Hernandez Chicharito helped Mexico beat Canada while on the international duty, but the tired legs could prove to be a big problem for Chicharito and there is every chance the former Manchester United ace will be rested against Wolfsburg.

Charles Aranguiz, Lars Bender, Kevin Kampl and Kyriakos Papadopoulous are all likely to miss the game with injury, while Tin Jedvaj returns to contention after missing the Stuttgart game through suspension. Stefan Kiesling is widely expected to lead the attack for the hosts against Wolfsburg.

Wolves enjoy playing against Bayer

Following a shocking 1-0 loss to relegation-threatened Hoffenheim, Wolfsburg gave fans yet another reason to worry on Matchday 27 as they played out a 1-1 draw with Darmstadt at their Volkswagen Arena. The Wolves scored a late equalizer in the 1-1 draw with Darmstadt and it is more than obvious that Dieter Hecking’s men are not at the top of their game at the moment. However, playing on three fronts seems to be the team’s main problem this season, but they will at least take part in the Champions League quarter-finals. Wolfsburg will be with one eye on the clash against Real Madrid when they take on Bayer Leverkusen on Friday night and that is the main reason why I am not tempted to put my money on the visitors this time out. Julian Draxler missed the Darmstadt game, but he returns to contention and the Germany international will be the man to watch in the away team.

The likes of Sebastian Jung, Naldo and Paul Seguin are all out of contention through injury. Julian Draxler returns to the starting line-up, while Daniel Caligiuri, who picked up a knock against Darmstadt remains a doubt.

Quick Facts

  • Bayer Leverkusen are after their fourth consecutive clean sheet
  • Bayer suffered a loss in each of their last four meetings with Wolfsburg
  • Wolfsburg recorded only one win in last eight away games
  • Wolves scored 14 goals in previous four meetings with Bayer
  • Julian Draxler scored the winners for Wolfsburg in the reverse fixture (2-1)

Bayer Leverkusen vs Wolfsburg betting tip

Both Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg are eyeing a place in the Champions League and I am positive that both teams will go for a win in Friday’s clash at BayArena. When the two teams take on each other in Bundesliga a high-scoring affair is guaranteed and, taking everything into account, I believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score.

Tip: Both teams to score
