Senegal national team bosses are set to try and persuade Celta Vigo midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop to switch his allegiance from Spain, according to reports.
The Teranga Lions pulled off a major coup as Lazio forward Balde Diao Keita pledged his allegiance to the African side, and they now aim to further reinforce their ranks.
Namely, Senegal chiefs hope they can convince Celta Vigo starlet Pape Cheikh Diop to represent Teranga Lions at international level.
The 18-year-old midfielder made seven appearance for Spain Under-19 side on the road to the UEFA Championship trophy last year.
However, he was surprisingly left out of the Under-19 squad for the Elite round of the 2017 UEFA Championship qualifiers, and that is something Senegal are looking to exploit.
Even though the talented footballer would prefer to remain with Spain, the Lions of Teranga are not yet ready to give up, so this is a story worth keeping an eye on.
Pape Diop has so far made five substitute appearances for Celta Vigo in La Liga and he is predicted a bright future in the game.
