Tottenham vs Liverpool prediction

The biggest game of Premier League round nine is set to take place at White Hart Lane where Tottenham will host Liverpool in a game that will mark the debut of Red’s new manager Jurgen Klopp. Both sides will be looking to make most of the first game after the international break.

Spurs on a run

The home side are on a fine seven-game unbeaten run ever since the opening defeat to Manchester United, and will welcome Liverpool coming off a 2-2 draw at Swansea before the break. It was thanks to a brace from Christian Eriksen that Mauricio Pochettino’s charges managed to save the game despite an own goal by Harry Kane. With three wins, four draws and that solitary United defeat, Tottenham are sitting eighth in the Premier League standings with only a point in front of their Saturday’s rival. Win in a hugely important game over Liverpool would be a massive boost to the team’s confidence and there is no doubt Jurgen Klopp is in for a hot welcome at White Hart Lane. Pochettino want to keep the good run going, but he faces a tough task knowing that his side lost all of the last five meetings with the Reds.

What is more, Spurs manager is having selection issues with six players possibly out of the upcoming encounter. Alex Pritchard and Son Heung-Min are injured and definite absentees, as well as Eric Dier who is suspended for the Liverpool game. Ryan Mason, Nabil Bentaleb and Danny Rose are all doubtful, but Pochettino will be pleased to welcome recovered Moussa Dembele back to his starting line up.

A special price of 9/2 is offered on Daniel Sturridge to score anytime and Liverpool to win.

Klopp’s debut

It’s an exciting time to be a Liverpool fan right now. Jurgen Klopp’s arrival to Anfield has caused quite a stir and there is no doubt that players will look to utilize the positive atmosphere and get back to winning ways in a game that will mark the beginning of a new era. Klopp has warned the public and fans alike not to expect miracles from the start as there is a long way ahead of him and the team if he is to lead the 18-time English champions back to glory. There is a difficult task in front of former Dortmund manager as his team has won just once in last nine games in all competitions, sitting 10th in the Premier League standings. Klopp has had little time to shake things up, but the positive momentum is there. Liverpool travel to London having won all of their last five games against Tottenham and by a high margin. There have been over 2.5 goals scored in all of those five matches, despite the fact that Rodgers’ Liverpool had been scoring under 2.5 goals in 12 of their last 15 away games in the Premier League. Klopp’s philosophy is a promise to an open affair though.

The German is facing a lot of problems regarding his squad fitness. Possible return of Philippe Coutinho and ahead of schedule recovery of Roberto Firmino is good news, but there is a long list of injured players that will give the new manager a major headache. Jon Flanagan is a long-term absentee, while the club’s captain Jordan Henderson is also out through injury. Chrristian Benteke has not fully recovered, Dejan Lovren is a doubt, while Joseph Gomez and Danny Ings both look set to miss the remainder of the season through knee injuries.
