Twente vs NEC prediction

Out-of-sorts Twente will be looking to record their only second win of the season when they host NEC at their De Grolsch Veste on day 9 of the 2015/2021 Eredivisie campaign. The visitors outclassed Den Haag in their last league match, but beating the Tukkers on the road is easier said than done.

Slow start

Over the years Twente have established themselves as a genuine top-table side in Dutch Eredivisie. The Tukkers, though, have been struggling at the start of the new Eredivisie campaign, with the team collecting no more than six points from possible 24 to date. The team especially struggle on the travels and it has to be noted that Rene Hake’s troops have netted no more than one goal in last three away fixtures in the national championship. Twente are running down a blind alley at the moment, but Sunday’s game against NEC could be the turning point for the Tukkers and I am positive that the hosts will leave their hearts on the field this time out. Rene Hake’s team are after their second win of the season and this one would help them escape the relegation zone. A man to watch in the home team will be midfielder Hakim Ziyech, who has been in a fine form this term.

The likes of Torgeir Borven, Giorgos Katsikas and Sonny Stevens are all sidelined with injury, but coach Rene Hake has no other selection worries ahead of the NEC game.

Impressive win over Den Haag

NEC did not spend too much time in the Dutch second division. The team impressed in the 2014/2015 Jupiler League campaign and they secured promotion to the top flight without any difficulties. To make things even better for the fans, Ernest Faber’s team have been producing fine displays in the 2015/2021 Eredivisie campaign and they have been scoring goals for fun of late. NEC outclassed Den Haag (4-1) in their last league match before the international break and it has to be noted that the team have netted no less than 10 goals in last four Eredivisie fixtures. Anyhow, Ernest Faber’s men face a difficult quest in Sunday’s game against Twente and they would probably be happy with one point from the De Grolsch Veste clash. Last season’s top scorer Santos has netted five goals in eight league fixtures this term and he will surely pose a big threat for Twente defenders. The Venezuela international scored 23 goals last term.

Marcel Appiah and Joshua Smits both miss the game with injury, whilst Hannes Thor Halldorsson is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day. Coach Ernest Faber is likely to stick to the 4-3-3 formation.

Twente vs NEC betting tip

NEC seem to be at the top of their game at the moment, but it is well known that Twente are tough to beat at home ground and I am not sure if away win should be considered this time out. The out-of-form hosts will surely go all guns blazing at Ernest Faber’s men and given NEC’s attacking potential, there is every chance we will see a high-scoring affair in Enschede. In previous three meetings between the two teams in Eredivisie 18 goals have been netted and there is every chance both sides will score in Sunday’s clash.

Tip: Both teams to score
