Lyon vs PSG prediction
Lyon will be looking to get revenge on PSG for the back-to-back defeats in the 2015/2016 campaign when the two sides take on each other at Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Sunday night. Les Parisiens aim to cement top position in the standings, but beating les Gones on the road is easier said than done.
Les Gones tough to beat on their new stadium
Olympique Lyon experienced all sorts of problems in the first half of the season, but les Gones have been producing thrilling displays in 2016, especially at home ground. Bruno Genesio’s troops have yet to suffer a loss at their new stadium and it has to be noted that they scored seven goals in previous two home fixtures in Ligue 1. Anyhow, Lyon will have to be at their sharpest in Sunday’s match against star-studded PSG if they are to extending their winning run on home soil, but the clash against the reigning champions will be anything but a walk in the par for the hosts. Les Gones suffered a 1-0 loss to Lille in their last away game in Ligue 1 and, but the fact that Bruno Genesio’s men are tough to beat at home is giving the fans a reason for optimism ahead of Sunday’s derby.
Clement Grenier, Christophe Jallet and Samuel Umtiti are all sidelined through suspension, while Aldo Kalulu, Corentin Tolisso and Mathieu Valbuena all miss the game with injury. Rafael is rated doubtful.
Can anyone stop les Parisiens?
Paris Saint-Germain did well to beat Chelsea in the Champions League last 16, first leg, but they have yet to get their job done in the tie against the Premier League outfit. Les Parisiens, on the other hand, outclassed Reims (4-1) in their last Ligue 1 fixture and, as a result, Laurent Blanc’s troops cemented top position in the standings and they are on the right track to defend their trophy. PSG are 24 points clear of second-placed Monaco, but they can’t afford any complacency in the remainder of the season. Laurent Blanc is certainly aware of the importance of Sunday’s game against Lyon as a victory over les Gones would see the capital club move one step closer to clinching the domestic trophy. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been in a thrilling form of late and the opposition defenders should find it hard to contain the Swedish attacker.
Serge Aurier remains out of contention (ban), while Javier Pastore, Marco Verratti and Angel Di Maria are all doubtful for the Lyon showdown. Laurent Blanc is likely to stick to the 4-3-3 formation.
Quick Facts

Lyon vs PSG betting tip
Lyon suit PSG and seeing that les Parisiens are eager to get their job done in the Ligue 1 as soon as possible, I believe that there is a certain value in betting on the league leaders. Laurent Blanc’s men have been impressive on the travels of late and, taking everything into account, the time has come for Bruno Genesio’s team to suffer their first loss at the new stadium. PSG are after their fifth consecutive win over Lyon in all competitions.
Tip: PSG to win
