Sevilla vs Eibar prediction

Sevilla will be looking to make amends for a 2-1 loss to Barcelona when they take on Eibar, who suffered a 1-0 loss to Eibar on a waterlogged pitch. Los Armeros have been struggling to find their form of late and it remains to be seen if they are capable of spoiling Sevilla’s party at “Pizjuan”.

Sevilla eyeing twelfth consecutive win at home

Despite producing a fine display in Sunday’s game against Barcelona, Sevilla suffered a 2-1 loss to Luis Enrique’s troops. Los Sevillanos blew their chance to move a little closer to the Champions League places, but, as things stand now, they will be happy with the participation in the Europa League. Unai Emery’s troops have been producing outstanding performances at their Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this season and they will be looking to record their 12th consecutive win at home when they host Eibar on Matchday 27. Vitolo found the net in the defeat to Barca and the high-profile midfielder will be the man to watch in the home team. As before, Kevin Gameiro will lead the attack for the hosts and the team’s top scorer is likely to prove a handful for the opposition back line.

Ever Banega returns from suspension, while Marco Andreolli, Nico Pareja and Gregorz Krychowiak remain in the recovery room. Danish winger Krohn-Dehli is pushing for a start.

Poor form

Even though many people expected that Eibar would return on winning ways at the weekend, the Basque outfit suffered a shocking 1-0 loss to relegation-threatened Las Palmas. It has to be noted, though, that the match was played on a waterlogged pitch and that was probably the main reason why los Armeros failed to grab something from the game. Eibar dropped to eighth place in the La Liga standings, but they are on the right track to secure the top flight survival and nothing else matters. Jose Luis Mendilibar’s men face an uphill task in Wednesday’s match against Sevilla, but they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. Borja Baston failed to impress against Las Palmas, but the 23-year-old attacker, who has netted 16 goals this season to date, is likely to prove a handful for the opposition defenders. Anyhow, you should have in mind that Eibar are on a three-match losing run on the road, with the team suffering defeats to the likes of Athletic Club, Atletico Madrid and Celta Vigo in previous three away fixtures.

The likes of Ekiza, Ramis, Luna, Jaime and Keko are all likely to miss the match with injury, but coach Jose Luis Mendilibar has no fresh injury worries ahead of the trip to Andalusia.

Quick Facts

  • Sevilla are eyeing their 12th consecutive league win at home

  • Unai Emery’s men failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five league games
  • Eibar conceded 11 goals in previous three away fixtures
  • Over 3.5 goals were scored in Eibar’s last four matches on the road
