Villarreal vs Levante prediction

Villarreal will be looking to build on a triumph over Napoli in the Europa League when they host Levante at their Camp El Madrigal on Sunday morning. Los Levantinos aim to move away from the relegation zone, but they face an uphill task in the game against the Yellow Submarine.

Brilliant form

Villarreal are on the right track to secure participation in the Champions League. The Yellow Submarine sit in fourth place in the La Liga standings and no doubt coach Marcelino is doing a great job with the Camp El Madridal outfit. The hosts head into the match following a 1-1 draw with Napoli which helped them book their place in the Europa League last 16. Villarreal have been impressive at the back and given their brilliant home record it is no surprise they are regarded as favourites in Sunday’s match against Levante. Roberto Soldado has found his goal-scoring touch of late and the experienced attacker who scored the winner in the 1-0 triumph over Malaga and he is widely expected to lead the line for the hosts against Levante. Villarreal were beaten by Rubi’s men in the reverse fixture and they will be looking to get their revenge on the relegation strugglers when the two sides take on each other at Camp El Madrigal on Sunday. You should know that Villarreal are on an eight-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

Jonathan Dos Santos and Samu remain in the recovery room, but coach Marcelino has no other injury worries ahead of the visit of Levante. Leo Baptistao is pushing for a start.

Signs of improvement

Levante did well to beat Getafe 3-0 in their last league game, with the team putting an end to their three-match losing run in La Liga. Los Levantinos are desperate to secure the top flight survival, but they will have to keep on improving their game in days to come if they are to meet their goal. New signing Giuseppe Rossi found the net in the win over Getafe and all eyes will be on the former Fiorentina ace when the two sides take on each other at Camp El Madrigal. Levante are one of those teams who struggle on the travels and seeing that they were totally outplayed by Eibar in their last away fixture, I do not believe that away win should be considered this time out. Anyhow, the visitors are four points behind the safe zone and they are going to leave their hearts on the field in Sunday’s encounter against Villarreal.

Ivan Lopez, Pedro Lopez and Jose Mari are the players who will definitely miss the game (all injury), but there are no suspended players in the away team. Victor Casadesus is pushing for a start.

Quick Facts

  • Villarreal are on an eight-game unbeaten run in all competitions
  • Yellows managed to keep a clean sheet in each of their last four league games
  • Rubi’s men recorded five wins in previous six meetings with Levante
  • Levante are on a six-match losing run on the road
  • Los Levantinos recorded their last win at Camp El Madrigal five years ago

Villarreal vs Levante betting tip

When the two sides take on each other in La Liga a low-scoring affair is guaranteed. Seven goals in total were scored in previous five meetings between the two teams and I would not be surprised if one goal separates the two sides on Monday morning. Levante recorded a 1-0 win over Villarreal earlier this season and, taking everything into account, under 2.5 goals should be considered.

Tip: Under 2.5 goals

Odds: 1.80 (4/5) @10Bet
