Fiorentina vs Napoli prediction

Both Fiorentina and Napoli got knocked out from the Europa League. Now they turn their attention to the Serie A, hoping for a triumph in their forthcoming encounter. Viola could become a candidate for the trophy with a victory over the Partenopei, but gli Azzurri want to create an eight-point cushion between them and the Tuscans.

Fiorentina almost invincible on home turf

Paulo Sousa will try to forget the trip to London this Thursday, since his team suffered a heavy loss against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League. Viola displayed a pale performance at White Hart Lane and were deservingly sent home with three goals in their net. Now they return to Stadio Artemio Franchi, where they will host the Partenopei on Monday evening in one of the two most important clashes of this round. Fiorentina are a tough nut to crack on home turf, with thirteen victories from sixteen matches. Additionally, Viola’s defense recorded nine clean sheets in the spell, and only capital city clubs managed to take all three points in Florence since May 2015. Nikola Kalinic and Josip Ilicic always put their best show in front of their supporters, thus the Tuscans score a little over two goals per game on average on home soil. Paulo Sousa’s charges are on a six-game undefeated run in the league, and, if they continue with the good work, Viola will extend the positive run.

Mauro Zarate is serving his suspension due to a misconduct in the clash against Inter. Yohan Benalouane will also miss the game since he is injured. Other than that, Paulo Sousa has no other fresh concerns.

If Higuain fails to score, Napoli fail to win

The league top goal scorer, Higuain, simply cannot find the net in four successive matches. It seems that the Napolitans are quite harmless when their main weapon is neutralized. Maurizio Sarris’s side have been struggling in front of the opposition goal of late, hence the lack of victories (D2 L2). The Partenopei are starting to lose their pace, and need to get back to winning ways as soon as possible if they plan to keep track with Juventus in the title race. Much will depend on Higuain’s form, so the fans hope it will not take him long to find his killer instinct again. Fiorentina’s rock-solid defense could pose a big problem, and if Paulo Sousa manages to keep a tight mark on the Argentinian forward, Napoli’s attacking line will be beheaded once again, which could mean the end of the Partenopei’s winning run at Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Alberto Grassi is suffering from a knee injury and is a doubt for the forthcoming match, while it seems that Ivan Strinic is not fully fit, so he will remain sidelined.

Quick Facts

  • Florence-based team are undefeated in six straight games in the Serie A
  • Paulo Sousa’s side suffered only two defeats in their last sixteen league matches on home soil
  • Napoli won their previous four matches against Fiorentina
  • The Napolitans are on a four-game winless streak in all competitions
  • Viola want their first home triumph against the Partenopei since January 2009 (D2 L5)

Fiorentina vs Napoli betting tip

Fiorentina are trully on the rise, even though they suffered a defeat in the Europa League. Napoli are not in a good place currently, and I honestly believe they are about to suffer another loss in the Serie A. I do not expect a lot of fireworks in this clash, but I will put my money on the home team.

Tip: Home win
