Slutsky reveals Russia squad for qualifiers vs Sweden, Liechtenstein

Slutsky reveals Russia squad for qualifiers vs Sweden, LiechtensteinNew Russia boss Leonid Slutsky has moved to announce a 24-man roster for Euro 2021 qualifiers against Sweden and Liechtenstein.

The CSKA Moscow coach was elected as the man to take over from Fabio Capello and his first squad has now been presented to the public.

Russia, who trail Sweden and Austria four and eight points respectively, are 2.30 (13/10) to see off the Nordic side on September 5 and revive their hopes of reaching the final.

Leonid Slutsky did not make major changes to the side that started the qualifying campaign, with Ural midfielder Alexandr Erokhin the only new name.

Oleg Kuzmin (0/0) has been given a new chance to win his first cap, while Fyodor Smolov (5/2) returns to the side after more than two years.

Russia were pretty disappointing at the start of the Euro 2021 qualifiers, but there is still plenty of time to secure progress to tournament finals.
