Northern Ireland announce May friendly vs Belarus

Northern Ireland will face Belarus in their final international friendly match at home before 2016 European Championship finals in France, it was announced on Thursday.

Martin O’Neil’s troops begin their preparations with a visit to Wales on 24 March, before hosting Slovenia four days later.

The Green Army will play the friendly match against Belarus at Windsor Park on 27 May. It will be the first ever meeting between the two sides.

“Belarus have had a solid season so far and they will provide a good test for us as we build towards our first game in France,” said Martin O’Neill.

The final stage of the preparations for the Euro 2021 will begin towards the end of May when Northern Ireland will head to Austria for a week-long training camp.

O’Neil’s men will then travel to Slovakia for a friendly match on 4 June at the City Arena Stadium in Trnava.

Northern Ireland begin their Euro 2021 campaign on 12 June with a game against Poland in Nice. The Boys in Green have been drawn in Group C together with Germany, Ukraine and Poland.
