Liverpool vs Newcastle United prediction

Red-hot Liverpool will host struggling Newcastle this Saturday. Anfield outfit hope for their fourth straight victory in the Premier League, while the Magpies hope to further their positive run.

The Reds rule Liverpool

Another game, another miraculous display of Jurgen Klopp’s charges. The Merseyside derby proved that Liverpool still rule the city, since the Reds hammered the Toffees (4-0). Four different players scored in this clash, but James Milner was the man of the match, with two assists to his name and an almost perfect display. Anfield outfit are flying high at the moment, their forwards have been highly productive, with fourteen nettings in just four games. Sturridge is on the run, with three goals in four matches, while Coutinho is simply a class above his opponents of late. Liverpool still have a slim chance for a top-four spot, and their current unbeaten run on home soil gives them reasonable hope they could go all the way against the Magpies. The Reds won nine of their last ten clashes with Newcastle at Anfield, and the fans expect them to build on the amazing triumph against the Toffees.

Divock Origi suffered a heavy injury against Everton and he will join Jordan Henderson, Martin Skrtel, Emre Can, Jordan Rossiter, Christian Benteke, Joseph Gomez and Danny Ings in the recovery room.

Rafa returns to Anfield

It’s all or nothing for Newcastle in these last several matches. The Magpies raised their form in recent games, but there is still work to be done if they want to win the battle against relegation. Rafa Benitez returns to Anfield, a place that has a rather special place in his heart due to success he accomplished with the Reds, but emotions will have to be put aside, since his current team need all three points. The Geordies recorded their last victory at Liverpool more than twenty years ago, and the current miserable away run in the Premier League does not leave much room for hope. Andros Townsend has been displaying solid performances of late, as well as Aleksandar Mitrovic, but the biggest problem lies in the back. Newcastle managed to record just two clean sheets on the road this term, conceding more than two goals per game on average. Given the fact that some of their top defenders are out with injury, I sincerely doubt the Magpies can keep their goal intact.

Rafa Benitez will be without the likes of Daryl Janmaat, Massadio Haidara, Fabricio Coloccini, Tim Krul and Robert Eliot, who are all sidelined due to injuries.

Quick Facts

  • Newcastle recorded nine straight defeats on the road
  • Liverpool are unbeaten on home soil in six consecutive matches
  • The Reds netted 12 goals in their last three home fixtures
  • The Magpies saved their net just two times on the road this term
  • Newcastle achieved their last win at Anfield in 1994

Liverpool vs Newcastle United betting tip

With four scored goals on average in their last three home games, Liverpool could display a spectacle for the fans once again, since Newcastle have one of the worst defensive lines in the league. Rafa Benitez can expect a warm welcome, since Liverpool fans love him, but the Reds will not be so friendly once the match starts. Therefore, I will put my money on Klopp’s side.

Tip: Liverpool to win
