Getafe vs Sevilla prediction

Getafe are running down a blind alley ahead of the visit of Sevilla and they are desperate to put an end to their seven-match losing run in La Liga. Los Sevillanos are eyeing their first away of the season and it remains to be seen if they are capable of picking up all three points from Saturday’s clash in the suburbs of Madrid.

What the hell is going on at Coliseum?

Getafe recorded three consecutive wins over Sporting Gijon, Real Betis and Espanyol in January and, back then, nobody expected that the would start to struggle in La Liga. However, los Azulones suffered a serious dip in form and they are on a seven-match losing run in the national championship ahead of the Sevilla game. The lack of confidence seems to be the team’s biggest problem at the moment and I do not believe that the capital club are capable of upsetting Sevilla in Saturday’s league clash. Fran Esriba feels pressure ahead of the visit of los Sevillanos as his team could drop to the relegation zone if they happen to suffer a loss to Unai Emery’s troops. Getafe produced an awful display in the 4-0 loss to Las Palmas in midweek and I do not believe that home win should be considered this time out.

Fran Escriba mixed the squad against Las Palmas, but he is going to field the best possible side against Sevilla. Alvaro Pereira was sent off on his debut and he misses the Sevilla game through suspension. The likes of Suarez, Vigaray and Lago remain in the recovery room.

Sevilla eyeing first away win of the season

As expected, Sevilla recorded a win over Eibar in midweek, with the team extending their winning run at home to 13 games. Los Sevillanos have been impressive at “Pizjuan” this term, but they have been struggling on the travels in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign. Unai Emery’s charges are still looking for their first win on the road and they will not have a better chance than this to put an end to the negative trend. Sevilla are eyeing a place in the Champions League and this has to go down as a must-win game for the visitors, who are nine points behind fourth-placed Villarreal in the La Liga standings. Unai Emery’s team face Basel in the Europa League on Thursady evening and no doubt the Spanish tactician is going to stick to his rotation policy. Kevin Gameiro is likely to return to the starting line-up and he could prove a handful for the opposition defenders.

Gregorz Krychowiak returned to training, but he is unlikely to be risked against Getafe. Coach Unai Emery can’t count on the likes of Marco Andreolli and Nico Pareja (both injury).

Quick Facts

  • Getafe recorded their last win in La Liga on 17 January
  • In previous ten meetings between the two sides away side failed to emerge triumphant
  • Sevilla are on a 13-match winless run on the road
  • Los Azulones failed to score in previous six league matches
  • Los Sevillanos failed to keep a clean sheet in last three away matches in La Liga

Getafe vs Sevilla betting tip

Getafe are desperate to stop the run of seven consecutive defeats in La Liga, while Sevilla are determined to record their first away win of the season. Los Azulones have been misfiring of late and considering that they are low on confidence ahead of Saturday’s clash, there is every chance Unai Emery’s men will record their first away triumph of the season.

Tip: Sevilla to win
