Arsenal vs Olympiakos prediction

Arsenal will be aiming to bounce back from a shocking 2-1 loss to Dinamo Zagreb when they host Olympiakos Piraeus at their Emirates Stadium on Tuesday evening. The Gunners face a must-win situation on match day 2, but the Greeks should not be written off just yet.

Sanchez raising his form

Against all odds, Arsenal suffered a 2-1 loss to Dinamo in Zagreb in the opening match of their Champions League campaign. To make things even worse for the fans, the Gunners were beaten by Chelsea in the North London derby, but they have been producing much better performances ever since. Following a 2-1 win over their fiercest rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the League Cup, Arsene Wenger’s men outclassed Leicester City (5-2) in their last Premier League match, with Alexis Sanchez scoring a hat-trick for the capital club. Arsenal want to extend their winning run and I am positive that they will go all guns blazing at Olympiakos when the two sides take on each other in the Champions League on Tuesday evening. Mesut Ozil produced a good performance in the 5-2 win over Leicester City too and he will be yet another man to watch in the home team.

Gabriel returns from a domestic ban, but Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky, Francis Coquelin and Danny Welbeck all miss the match with injury. Olivier Giroud is pushing for a start.

Bayern Munich too strong for Thrylos

As expected, Olympiakos were beaten by star-studded Bayern Munich in the opening match of their Champions League campaign, but the defeat was pretty heavy (0-3). The Greek champions want to bounce back from the loss, but they will have a big fish to fry on Tuesday evening as they take on Arsenal at Emirates Stadium. Olympiakos have been scoring goals for fun in the national championship of late and it has to be noted that the Thrylos head into the match against Arsene Wenger’s charges following back-to-back wins over the likes of Xanthi and PAS Giannina (3-1, 5-1). Greek rising star Konsantinos Fortounis has been scoring goals for fun in recent weeks and he will surely play an important role in the away side in Tuesday’s match against Arsenal. Nigerian striker Ideye is widely expected to lead the line for Marco Silva’s men.

Alejandro Dominguez should recover in time to face Arsenal, but Serbian midfielder Luka Milivojevic is definitely out of contention (suspension). Coach Marco Silva has no fresh injury worries ahead of the trip to London and he is likely to stick to the 4-4-2 formation.

Arsenal vs Olympiakos betting tip

Arsenal are after their fourth consecutive win over Olympiakos, speaking of matches at the Emirates Stadium and it remains to be seen if the Greek champions are capable of putting an end to the negative trend. The Gunners are desperate to pick up all three points from Tuesday’s clash as they suffered the upsetting loss to Dinamo Zagreb in their opener and that is the main reason why I am tempted to put my money on the Premier League side, who impressed in the 5-2 win over Leicester City at the weekend.
