France vs Iceland Team News

Adil Rami misses the match through suspension, with Samuel Umtiti likely to step up. N’Golo Kante will have to serve his ban against Iceland as well and there is every chance Yohan Cabaye will replace him in the starting line-up. Kingley Coman picked up a knock in the 2-1 win over Republic of Ireland, but he should recover in time to face Iceland in the Euro 2021 qualifiers. Antoine Griezmann scored a brace against Martin O’Neill’s troops and the Atletico Madrid ace will be the man to watch in the home team.

Injured: None

Doubtful: None

Suspended: Adil Rami (32/1), N’Golo Kante (7/1)

Coach Lars Lagerback has no fresh injury worries ahead of the France game and he is likely to field the best possible side against les Tricolores. The Swedish tactician is widely expected to stick to the 4-4-2 formation. Bodvarsson and Sighorsson should be deployed up front, but a man to watch in the away team will be Premier League star Gylfi Sigurdsson, who is one yellow card away from suspension.

Quick Facts

  • 2 or 3 goals were scored in eight of France’s previous nine matches at Euro finals
  • Les Tricolores are eyeing their third clean sheet at Euro 2021
  • Iceland failed to keep a clean sheet in previous four matches at Euro 2021
  • Both teams scored in each of last five meetings between France and Iceland
  • Iceland are after their first ever win over France

France vs Iceland Prediction

France have not been impressive at the Euro 2021 finals so far, but they produced a thrilling performance in the second half of the match against Republic of Ireland. Antoine Griezmann looks unstoppable at the moment and, despite the fact that Iceland eliminated England in the last 16, I am tempted to put my money on the hosts this time out.
