Valencia vs Las Palmas prediction

Valencia will be aiming to move one step closer to booking their place in the Copa del Rey semi-finals with a win over Las Palmas. Coach Garry Neville is under big pressure following a 2-2 draw with Rayo Vallecano and this has to go down as a must-win game for los Che.

Los Che eager to save the season

Valencia made a slow start to the season and, as a result, the club chiefs decided to fire coach Nuno Espirito Santo. Garry Neville took over the reins, but los Che have yet to record a win in La Liga under the English tactician. Neville certainly feels pressure ahead of Thursday’s Copa del Rey game against Las Palmas and I am positive that he will field the best possible side against los Amarillos. Valencia struggle in La Liga and they want to save the season by clinching the Spanish Cup trophy. Alvaro Negredo scored a wonder goal in the 2-2 draw with Rayo at the weekend and seeing that the former Manchester City forward has found his scoring boots of late, there is every chance he will lead the attack for los Che against Las Palmas. Garry Neville’s men outclassed Granada 7-0 on aggregate in the Copa del Rey last 16.

Jose Gaya has overcome his injury and he could play some part in Thursday’s game against Las Palmas. Lucas Orban is closing in on a return, while Javi Fuego and Diego Alves are both sidelined with injury.

Poor away record

Las Palmas did well to eliminate Eibar in the Copa del Rey lasat 16, with the team scoring no less than six goals in the two-legged tie against the Basque outfit. Los Amarillos, though, will have a much bigger fish to fry in the clash against Valencia and Quique Setien’s men will have to be at the top of their game on Thursday evening if they are to spoil los Che’s party at Estadio de Mestalla. Las Palmas suffered a 3-0 loss to Atletico Madrid at the weekend and it is more than obvious that they struggle when facing top table sides. Los Amarillos are not regarded as good travelers and seeing that they have yet to record an away win in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign, I do not believe that there is a big value in betting on the visitors. You should know that Las Palmas eliminated Real Sociedad in the Copa del Rey last 32.

David Simon returns from suspension, but the likes of Asdrubal, Javi Castellano and Hernan all miss the trip to Valencia with injury. Sergio Araujo is pushing for a start.

Quick Facts

  • Valencia scored 2+ goals in previous five home games
  • Over 2.5 goals were scored in four of Valencia’s previous five fixtures
  • Los Che are after their eighth Copa del Rey
  • Las Palmas recorded their last away win in La Liga back in 2001
  • Los Amarillos are eyeing their first ever win over Valencia

Valencia vs Las Palmas betting tip

Valencia have been impressive in Copa del Rey this season and seeing that Garry Neville is desperate to keep his job, I am positive that he is going to field the best possible side against Las Palmas. Los Amarillos have been struggling on the travels this term and considering that the team’s main goal is to secure La Liga survival, I believe that there is a big value in betting on los Che, who have been scoring goals for fun at home ground of late.
