Las Palmas vs Valencia prediction

Valencia will be looking to save the season by recording a good result in Copa del Rey. Los Che played out a 1-1 draw with Las Palmas in the Spanish Cup quarter-finals, first leg, meaning that they need to go for a win in Thursday’s game at Estadio de Gran Canaria.

Difficulties at the back

Las Palmas badly needed a win against Levante at the weekend, but they failed to get one. Los Amarillos dropped to the relegation zone in La Liga standings and, as a result, their top flight status is in danger. Quique Setien’s troops have been struggling at the back of late and you should bear in mind that they conceded nine goals in previous four games in all competitions. Las Palmas managed to hold Valencia to a 1-1 draw in the Copa del Rey quarter-final, first leg at Estadio de Mestalla, but their job is only half done. Seeing that a goalless draw with los Che would see the hosts book their place in the Spanish Cup semis, there is every chance los Amarillos will adopt a defence-minded approach in Thursday’s game against Garry Neville’s troops, but seeing that they experienced all sorts of problems at the back in the 3-2 loss to Levante, I do not believe that Quique Setien’s men are capable of keeping a clean sheet this time out.

Vicente Gomez will out of contention for three months with injury, whilst Asdrubal has been sent on loan to Leganes. Quique Setien has no fresh injury worries ahead of the Valencia game.

Alvaro Negredo – el Savior

Valencia were on the verge of suffering a loss to Deportivo La Coruna at Estadio Municipal de Riazor at the weekend, but Alvaro Negredo scored a late equalizer to help los Che pick up one point from the game. In Paco Alcacer’s absence Garry Neville will have to rely on Negredo and no doubt all eyes will be on the former Manchester City attacker when Valencia take on Las Palmas in the Copa del Rey quarter-final, return leg on Thursday evening. Los Che played out a 1-1 draw with Los Amarillos in the first leg, meaning that they will have to go all guns blazing at Quique Setien’s this time out if they are to make it to the Spanish Cup semis. Valencia have yet to record a league win under Garry Neville, but you should have in mind that they crushed Granada in the Coppa del Rey last 16.

Paco Alcacer and Javi Fuego remain sidelined with injury, but coach Garry Neville has no other injury concerns ahead of the trip to Las Palmas.

Quick Facts

  • Las Palmas are after their first ever win over Valencia
  • Los Amarillos failed to keep a clean sheet in previous ten games
  • Valencia recorded one win in last five away matches
  • Los Che scored 1+ goals in previous four fixtures
  • Valencia are eyeing their eight Copa del Rey trophy

Las Palmas vs Levante betting tip

Las Palmas have been struggling to find their best form of late and seeing that a win is a must for Valencia, I believe that there is a big value in betting on los Che. Garry Neville feels pressure ahead of the Copa del Rey game and I am tempted to back the visitors to book their place in the Spanish Cup semis. Valencia defeated Las Palmas in their last meeting at Estadio de Gran Canaria.

Tip: Valencia to win
