Mexico national team interim coach Tuca Ferretti has caused quite a few surprises when naming his squad for international friendlies vs Trinidad and Tobago and Argentina.
The Brazilian tactician was surprisingly appointed an interim coach of El Tri after Miguel Herrera was sacked from the post.
And he has now revealed his 23-man squad for matches against T&T and Argentina, taking place in the United States on September 4 and September 8.
Mexico will face USMNT in the Confederations Cup play-off in the Rose Bowl on October 10, and these two matches will serve as final warm-up games.
Hence, everybody was surprised when they learned that Jonathan dos Santos (17/0) and Giovanni dos Santos (87/17) had been overlooked, with star goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa (71/0) also missing.
Veteran Rafael Marquez (127/15) is back, while Tigres footballers Jorge Torres Nilo (41/1), Jesus Duenas (3/0) and Javier Aquino (31/0) all made the cut.
Home-based players will gather in Mexico City on Sunday, while the remainder of the squad will join them in Salt Lake City on Monday.
