Sevilla vs Real Madrid prediction

Sevilla and Real Madrid take on each other at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in Sunday’s la Liga derby. Los Blancos aim to retain top position in the standings, but beating Unai Emery’s men in Andalusia is easier said than done.

Sevillanos tough to beat at home

Following a 2-1 loss to Villarreal at Camp el Madrigal, Sevilla suffered a 3-1 defeat to Manchester City in Tuesday’s Champions League match. Los Sevillanos are unlikely to reach the knockout stages of the elite competition and they have been struggling in La Liga too. Unai Emery’s men occupy 11th place in the standings and they are no less than eight points behind the Champions League berth. Sevilla host Real Madrid at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and it has to be noted that they are after their fourth consecutive home win in the national championship. Los Sevillanos did well to beat Barcelona at home earlier this season and that is giving the fans a reason for optimism ahead of Sunday’s Primera Division derby. You should have in mind that Unai Emery’s troops outclassed Getafe 5-0 in their last home fixture, with Kevin Gameiro scoring a hat-trick for the Andalusian outfit.

The likes of Beto, Daniel Carrico, Nico Pareja and Gael Kakuta remain in the recovery room, but coach Unai Emery has no fresh injury worries ahead of the Real Madrid game.

The Benzema problem

Real Madrid have not been producing brilliant displays in the 2015/2021 Primera Division campaign, but they are leading the chase for the domestic title. The team’s results are better than the performances and, no doubt, Rafa Benitez’s men need to improve their game if they are to regain the la Liga trophy. Los Blancos, though, are on a three-game winning run in the national championship and they head into Sunday’s derby against Sevilla following a 1-0 win over PSG in the Champions League. The bad news for the fans is that important attacker Karim Benzema misses the trip to Seville. The French attacker is accused of blackmailing Mathieu Valbuena and that will surely have an influence on his performances. On the other hand, Cristiano Ronaldo found the net in the 3-1 win over Las Palmas and the Portuguese superstar will be a danger for the opposition defenders in Sunday’s clash at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. It has to be noted that Real Madrid are after their fourth away win of the season.

Karim Benzema is definitely out of contention, whilst Jese Rodriguez is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day. Goalkeeper Keylor Navas and full-back Marcelo are both sidelined with injury, but Gareth Bale returns from injury.

Sevilla vs Real Madrid betting tip

Sevilla have been impressive at home ground of late. Los Sevillanos proved their worth in the 2-1 win over Barcelona and they are surely capable of making life difficult for the Spanish giants. Rafa Benitez’s charges head into the match with a severely-weakened squad and I am not tempted to put my money on los Blancos this time out. Anyhow, Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates are likely to find the net in Sunday’s derby and, taking everything into account, there is a certain value in betting on both teams to score first half.

Tip: Both teams to score in first half
