Sampdoria vs Fiorentina prediction

Fiorentina will be looking to retain top position in the Serie A standings with a win over Sampdoria at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris. The Viola are after their third consecutive win in the national championship, but Sunday’s game against La Samp will be anything but a walk in the park for the league leaders.

La Samp look sharp on home soil

Sampdoria were producing splendid performances under Sinisa Mihajlovic last term, but the Serbian tactician decided to leave the club in the summer. New boss Walter Zenga marked his debut with a shocking loss to Vojvodina in the Europa League qualifiers and the former Italia goalkeeper was under big pressure back then. However, the team quickly recovered from the heartbreaking defeat and it has to be noted that La Samp have been producing fine performances in the 2015/2021 Serie A campaign, especially at home ground. Walter Zenga’s troops have yet to suffer a loss at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris this term and they will be looking to record their fifth home win of the season when they square off against Fiorentina at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris. Sampdoria played out a 1-1 draw with Chievo in Verona at the weekend, with Eder extending his goal-scoring run. The Italian will surely pose a big threat for Fiorentina defenders on Sunday night.

The likes of Coda, Krsticic and Correa all miss the match with injury, but coach Walter Zenga has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the Fiorentina game and he is unlikely to make too many changes to the team that faced Chievo at the weekend.

Impressive start

Fiorentina have been playing above expectations in the 2015/2021 Serie A campaign. The Viola are leading the chase for Scudetto and they seem to be at the top of their game at the moment. Following back-to-back wins over the likes of Hellas Verona and Frosinone, Paulo Sousa’s men recorded a 2-0 win over Lech Poznan in the Europa League. The Viola moved one step closer to reaching the knockout stages of the European competition, but the team’s main goal is to try and book their spot in the Champions League. Fiorentina will surely go for a win in Sunday’s game against Sampdoria and coach Paulo Sousa is likely to field the best possible side against La Samp after resting his key players against Lech Poznan. It has to be noted that the Viola are after their fourth away of the season. In their last away fixture Fiorentina defeated Hellas Verona in the “City of Love”.

Former Borussia Dortmund star Jakub Kuba Blaszczykowski is sidelined with injury, but he is the only absentee in the away team. Nikola Kalinic is likely to be recalled to the starting line-up.

Sampdoria vs Fiorentina betting tip

Fiorentina have been in a thrilling form of late, but, as I have already mentioned, Sampdoria are tough to beat at home ground and that is the main reason why I am not tempted to put my money on the league leaders this time out. Both sides are capable of scoring and I believe that we will see quite a few goals at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris on Sunday. In their last meeting in the Serie A Fiorentina recorded a 2-0 win over Sampdoria.

Tip: 2-3 goals
