Getafe vs Deportivo La Coruna prediction

After taking one point from the game against Valencia, Getafe will be looking to give fans some festive cheer when they host Deportivo La Coruna at their Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Wednesday evening. The Galician side look invincible at the moment, meaning that an entertaining encounter is on the cards.

Azulones tough to beat at home

Getafe did well to eliminate Rayo Vallecano in Copa del Rey earlier in December and, to make things even better for the fans, los Azulones played out a 2-2 draw with Valencia at Estadio de Mestalla at the weekend. Fran Escriba’s men are on a three-game unbeaten run in all competitions, but their top flight is in danger ahead of the final game of the year. Getafe are just two points clear of the relegation zone and the players are certainly aware of the importance of Wednesday’s game against Deportivo La Coruna. Los Azulones have been producing fine performances at their Coliseum Alfonso Perez this season, with the team suffering no more than two defeats in front of home fans. Anyhow, the hosts head into the match in decent form having been defeated just once in previous five games.

Coach Fran Escriba has no fresh injury worries ahead of the visit of Deportivo and he is unlikely to make too many changes to the team that faced Valencia on Matchday 16. Velazquez and Medran, though, remain in the recovery room.

Brancoazuis playing above expectations

Deportivo La Coruna were more than fortunate not to drop to Segunda Division, with the team securing yet another top elite division survival on the last day of the 2014/2015 La Liga campaign. However, the Galician outfit have been producing much better performances this season and they are sitting in sixth place in the standings ahead of Wednesday’s game against Getafe. Los Brancoazuis aim to strengthen their grip on a place in the top half of the table and it remains to be seen if they are capable of extending their unbeaten run to eight matches. Victor Sanchez’s troops defeated Eibar in their last league game, with top scorer Lucas Perez extending his goal-scoring run in the national championship. The 27-year-old Spaniard has been scoring goals for fun this season and the opposition defenders should keep him at bay on Wednesday night.

Jonathan Rodriguez suffered an injury and he misses the trip to Madrid. The good news is that Jonas Gutierrez and Oriol Riera have recovered in time to face Getafe. Fabricio Agosto and Celso Borges remain in the recovery room, whilst Luisinho misses the game through suspension.

Quick Facts

  • Getafe have suffered only one loss in previous seven home games
  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in Getafe’s previous four home fixtures
  • Los Azulones scored 1+ goal in each of past seven meetings with Deportivo
  • Deportivo recorded their last win at Coliseum Alfonso Perez in 2009
  • Los Brancoazuis are on a nine-game unbeaten run
  • Victor Sanchez’s men have suffered only away loss this season

Getafe vs Deportivo La Coruna betting tip

Deportivo La Coruna aim to halt a run of seven matches without a win over Getafe. Los Brancoazuis have been in a splendid form of late and seeing that they shared the spoils with defending champions Barcelona at Camp Nou in their last away fixture, I am tempted to put my money on the visitors this time out. As I have already mentioned, Victor Sanchez’s men have suffered no more than one defeat on the road this season.
