Andorra vs Moldova prediction

Andorra will be looking to make amends for a 1-0 loss to St. Kitts and Nevis when they take on Moldova in yet another friendly game. The minnows are eyeing their first win since 2004 and it remains to be seen if they are capable of claiming a major scalp.

18 consecutive defeats

As expected, Andorra failed to book their place at the Euro 2021 finals. The Tricolors served as a cannon fodder for their rivals in Group B, with the team suffering a loss in each of their ten qualifying matches. Nonetheless, many people expected that the team would grab something from the November friendly against St. Kitts and Nevis, but, against odds, they were beaten by the African team in Andorra la Vella. Despite the fact that Andorra are on an 18-game losing run ahead of the visit of Moldova, Koldo Alvarez is still in charge of the team and it remains to be seen if his men are capable of putting an end to the negative trend. It has been 12 years since Andorra recorded their last win on the international stage, with the team beating Macedonia in the 2006 World Cup qualifiers.

Coach Koldo Alvarez is unlikely to make too many changes to the team that faced St. Kitts and Nevis and he should stick to the 4-5-1 formation. Oscar Sonejee suffered an injury in the November friendly, but he has overcome his injury and he should start the match.

Last win on 24 May, 2014

Moldova experienced all sorts of problems in the Euro 2021 qualifiers as well, with the team failing to record a win in the process. The former Soviet republic are on an 18-match winless run on the international stage and it has to be noted that the team recorded their last win back on 24 May, 2014, when they faced Saudi Arabia in a friendly match. Moldova played out a goalless draw with Malta in November and they will not have better chance than this to return to winning ways. Igor Dobrovolskiy’s troops must run out of the complacency they showed in the game against Malta and I am positive that the visitors will take Monday’s clash very seriously. The Moldovans failed to score in three of their last four away games, but they are certainly capable of finding the net against out-of-sorts Andorra.

The likes of Alexei Koselev, Veaceslav Posmac, Eugen Cocius, Sergiu Cojocari and Alexandru Suvorov have all been left out of the squad. Eugen Sidorenco of Milsami is likely to keep his place in the starting line-up, while Radu Ginsari is pushing for a start.

Quick Facts

  • Andorra are on an 18-match losing run
  • Koldo Alvarez’s men failed to score in four of their last five games
  • Moldova failed to find the net in three of their previous four away matches
  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in five of their last six games on the road
  • Moldova recorded a routine 3-0 win over Andorra in a friendly in 2014

Andorra vs Moldova betting tip

Both sides are desperate to return to winning ways and I am positive that both Andorra and Moldova will go for a win in Monday’s friendly. In two of their last three meetings on the international stage over 2.5 goals were scored and, taking everything into account, a lively contest appears on the horizon.

Tip: Over 2.5 goals

Odds: 2.10 (11/10) @BetVictor
