Aston Villa vs Chelsea prediction

The two fallen teams will open the Round 32 of the Premier League this Saturday at lunchtime. Chelsea managed to snatch all three points in the reverse fixture earlier this season and will be looking for a successive triumph in order to stay in the top half of the table.

The Villans are packing their bags

Even though in theory they still have a slim chance to remain in the Premiership, Remi Garde’s charges are becoming aware that they will be playing in the Championship next term. The French tactician failed to revive the team after his arrival, since Aston Villa resumed their pale performances and, after several years of avoiding relegation, Villa Park outfit should start packing their bags. Their recent run of defeats proves that they have given up and lately even their attack stopped producing goals, with Rudy Gestede going three without a goal, while Agbonlahor and Ayew are completely out of form. Even the officials started leaving the club, with Chief executive Tom Fox and sporting director Hendrik Almstadt both resigning earlier this month. Owner Randy Lerner wants out as well, the Villans have been on the market for two years now, but the question is whether someone will buy them, bearing in mind the current state of the club. In such a condition, Remi Garde’s charges await the fallen Chelsea, but it’s hard to believe Aston Villa will manage to arrest the negative trend, given the circumstances.

Remi Garde will be without the likes of Jack Grealish (ankle injury), Libor Kozak (ankle fracture) and Jordan Amavi (ACL injury), who are all in the recovery room.

Chelsea already looking to next season

The press expect a real exodus of players in Chelsea this summer. Many of the current key players will be sold, while a significant number of new faces are expected. Antonio Conte is presented as the biggest candidate for the bench, Bonucci, Pogba and Cuadrado should join from Juventus, Dortmund’s Hummels could wear the blue shirt next season as well, but the question remains whether these outstanding players are prepared to miss out a season in the Champions League. The Blues sit in the middle of the table at the moment and even the Europa League looks pretty far away. However, Guus Hiddink will try and win as many points possible in these last eight league games and he has the first chance to end the current winless run against the fallen Villans. Points seem to be in the bag already, but we will have to wait and see whether the Pensioners are capable of delivering. Loic Remy will lead the attack once again, while Kennedy should be given the chance at the flank.

Eden Hazard suffered a thigh muscle strain and will be sidelined for the upcoming match. Radamel Falcao is still in the recovery room, as well as Kurt Zouma, while Diego Costa is suspended.

Quick Facts

  • The Villans suffered six league matches in a row
  • Remi Garde’s charges recorded mere two home wins this season
  • Chelsea are on a three-game winning streak against Aston Villa
  • The Blues have been blowing hot and cold on the road of late
  • Most of their mutual encounters ended with more than 2.5 goals per game

Aston Villa vs Chelsea betting tip

Chelsea want to bounce back to winning ways in the forthcoming fixture and will have a perfect opportunity to do so against the team that suffered most defeats in the Premier League this season. Despite their obvious dip in form I do expect them to repeat the success from the reverse fixture and take much needed points in their clash against the Villans.

Tip: Away win
