Mexican giants Tigres have moved to confirm they have reached an agreement to sign French forward Andre-Pierre Gignac from Marseille.
The club announced the news via their official Twitter account, revealing that the striker would undergo a medical on Thursday morning.
According to L’Equipe, Gignac will be earning between €4m and €5m per season in his new club, which is probably the main reason why he snubbed offers from several top European sides.
The 29-year-old leaves Marseille on a free transfer following his best ever season in which he bagged 21 league goals.
While the national team of Mexico is contesting a 2015 Copa America tournament, Tigres is preparing for the Copa Libertadores semi-finals, as they will square off against Internacional Porto Alegre on 15th and 22nd July.
Gignac is set to become club’s second major signing of the summer, with Jurgen Damm, one of world’s fastest footballers, having previously joined from Pachuca for a fee of $10 million.
