Brazil v Argentina friendly could still take place in United States

Brazil v Argentina friendlyA friendly match between South American rivals Brazil and Argentina could be eventually held in the United States next September in spite of the recent developments.

The two rivals were supposed to meet each other in an international friendly on September 5 in San Francisco, but that match has been cancelled as the owners of Full Play company were arrested as part of the extensive investigation involving FIFA officials.

The company has been in charge of organising the Superclassic of the South America between Brazil and Argentina, but the latest reports suggest that the game could still go ahead.

“It’s public knowledge all the problems involving Full Play right now,” Guillermo Tofoni, CEO of World Eleven, told Associated Press.

“We are still trying to make sure the game happens between the two teams somewhere in the United States. It just wouldn’t be called the Superclassic, because that belongs to Full Play.”

Brazil and Argentina national team, who both failed to lift the 2014 World Cup and 2015 Copa America trophies, will be in the United States at the time as the Selecao play USMNT in Boston and La Albiceleste face Mexico in Dallas.

The Football Federation of Argentina could not confirm that the friendly game has been cancelled, which could mean they still hope the high-profile clash will be held on the United States soil.

The friendlies in USA will be the final warm-up games for the two sides before the 2018 World Cup qualifiers kick off in October.

Tickets to this and all other high-profile international friendlies being played around the globe can be found here.
