Andrew Farrell hopes for Peru call-up

Peru coach Ricardo Gareca wants New England defender Andrew Farrell in his squad, reports in Peru suggest.

Andrew Farrell was born in USA, but he lived in Peru for ten years. The 23-year-old footballer has yet to earn his USA cap, meaning that he is eligible to represent Peru in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

“It would be interesting to see if I could represent Peru because I lived there for ten years”, said Andrew Farrell.

“I believe that every footballer wants to represent a national team and take part in the World Cup qualifiers”, added the New England man.

Peru have not been impressive in their World Cup qualifying so far, having recorded one win, while suffering three defeats in the process.

The good news for La Blanquirroja is that key player Jefferson Farfan is closing in on a return. The former Schalke ace has been on the sidelines since November with an ankle injury, but he is getting better by the day.
