Nice vs Reims prediction

Nice will be looking to regain their spot in top three with a win over Reims at their Allianz Riviera. Les Aiglons are a real force to be reckoned with at home, but Olivier Guegan’s troops are sitting in the danger zone ahead of the trip to Nice and they should not be underestimated.

Home soil – big advantage

Nice were struggling to find their form in February, but ever since key player Hatem Ben Arfa overcame his injury les Aiglons have been producing thrilling displays in Ligue 1. Claude Puel’s team have been impressive at their Allianz Riviera of late and they will be looking to record their fourth consecutive win at home when they take on Reims on Matchday 35. Les Aiglons played out a 1-1 draw with ten-man Lyon in their last away game in the national championship, but it has to be noted that they missed a great opportunity to climb to the Champions League berth. Nice were in control of the match, but les Gones eventually scored a late equalizer from the set piece. Les Aiglons are eager to return to winning ways, but they will have to prove their worth on the field in Friday’s match against Reims. A man to watch in the home team will be Hatem Ben Arfa, who is enjoying a season to remember.

The likes of Mickael Le Bihan, Mathieu Bodmer, Mahamane Traore and Simon Pouplin are all out of contention with injury. Coach Claude Puel has no other selection worries ahead of the visit of Reims.

Heartbreaking loss to Troyes

Despite being regarded as favourites in Saturday’s match against rock-bottom Troyes, Reims suffered a shocking 2-1 loss to Mohamed Bradja’s troops. Reims failed to escape the danger zone and, no doubt, their top flight status is in danger. The team sit in 17th place in the Ligue 1 standings, two points clear of the relegation zone, meaning that Friday’s clash against Nice is of big importance for the visitors. Mohamed Bradja’s men have been struggling on the travels in the second half of the season and it has to be noted that they are on a five-game winless run on the road in the national championship. Reims conceded 2+ goals in each of their last five away games and, taking everything into account, it is no surprise they are regarded as underdogs in Friday’s game against Nice.

Alexis Peuget, Diego and Mohamed Fofana are all sidelined with injury, while Jaba Kankava is sidelined through suspension. Abdelhamid El Kaoutari is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day.

Quick Facts

  • Nice are eyeing their fourth consecutive win at home
  • Les Aiglons managed to keep a clean sheet in last two home games
  • Reims suffered four defeats in last five away matches in Ligue 1
  • Over 2.5 goals were scored in Reims’ last three away fixtures in the league
  • Claude Puel’s troops recorded only one win in last ten away games

Nice vs Reims betting tip

Nice have been producing splendid displays at home this season and considering that coach Claude Puel can count on all of his key players for Friday’s game against Reims, I am tempted to put my money on the hosts this time out. Reims struggle on the travels and the relegation strugglers are likely to return empty-handed.

Tip: Nice to win

Odds: 1.85 (6/7) @bet365
