Austria vs Albania prediction

Following nine consecutive wins in Euro 2021 qualifiers, Austria suffered a 2-1 loss to Switzerland in the November friendly. The Austrians are eager to bounce back from the defeat and they will be looking to start a new winning run when they host Albania at their Ernst-Happel-Stadion on Saturday.

Big ambitions for Euro 2021

Austria impressed in the Euro 2021 qualifiers, with the team topping group G. Das Team recorded nine wins and one draw in the process, but they did not kick off their preparations for the showpiece tournament in France as many people expected. Marcel Koller’s troops were beaten by Switzerland in their first warm-up game and they will be looking to return to winning ways when they take on Albania in yet another international friendly. Stoke City ace Marko Arnautovic is enjoying a season to remember and the opposition defenders are likely to have their work cut out for them when facing the former Werder Bremen man. Yet another man to watch in the home team will be Bayern Munich star David Alaba, who scored four goals for the Austrian national team on the road to France.

Bayern Munich II player Alessandro Schopf has received a surprising call-up, while Ivan Lucic has been left out of the squad as he will play for Austria’s U-21 team. Stuttgart attacker made the squad as well, with Premier League footballers Christian Fuchs, Kevin Wimmer and Sebastian Prodl being on the list as well.

Uphill task for Albania

Albania made history by qualifying for the Euro 2021 finals for the first time ever and, no doubt, they are brimming with confidence ahead of the Austria game. The Albanians played out a 2-2 draw in their first warm-up game for the European Championship finals, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Saturday’s match against Austria. Gianni de Biasi’s troops will, as always, leave their hearts on the field in order to grab something from the game, but beating Marcel Koller’s team at Ernst-Happel-Stadion is easier said than done. Gianni de Biasi doesn’t have a number of high-profile players to choose from, but the team is well organized and a good teamwork helped the team book their place at the Euro 2021 finals.

Milot Raschices has received his first ever call-up, but the likes of Rafiti, Rahmanin and Manajn have all been left out of the squad. Taulant Xhaka made the squad and he will be the man to watch in the away team.

Quick Facts

  • Austria recorded five wins in previous six games
  • Marcel Koller’s troops scored 1+ goals in each of their last 12 home matches
  • Austrians are after their seventh consecutive win over Albania
  • Albania failed to score in five of their six meetings with Austria
  • Gianni de Biasi’s troops recorded only one win in previous four away matches.
  • Albania managed to keep a clean sheet in previous two away fixtures

Austria vs Albania betting tip

Austria are a real force to be reckoned with at home and the “golden generation” of Austrian players are regarded as hot favourites to win Saturday’s friendly against Albania. Marcel Koller can count on all of his star players for the upcoming friendly and seeing that the hosts are desperate to make amends for the loss to Switzerland, home win appears on the cards this time out.
