Bournemouth recorded a routine 3-0 win over Yeovil Town in a pre-season friendly, but Ghana international Christian Atsu gave coach Eddie Howe a headache as he was forced to leave the field after just 30 minutes with a back complaint.
The new signing will be assessed in days to come and it remains to be seen if the 23-year-old winger suffered a heavy injury or just a knock.
Christian Atsu has 37 caps for Ghana and he managed to score five goals for the Black Stars, while providing three assists for his teammates.
Bournemouth kick off the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign on August 8 as they take on Aston Villa at Vitality Stadium. Coach Eddie Howe hopes that Atsu will recover in time to face the Villans.
Christian Atsu helped Ghana beat Mauritius in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers last month, with the spacey winger scoring in the 7-1 victory over the minnows.
