Sassuolo vs Carpi 1-0 (2015/2016 Serie A)

Carpi vs Sassuolo prediction

Sassuolo will be looking to move a little closer to the European places with a win over Carpi at Stadio Alberto Braglia. The Biancorossi are eager to escape the relegation zone, meaning that an interesting clash is on the cards.

Fine form

Carpi are determined to secure yet another elite division survival. The newcomers were far from impressive in the first half of the season, but they have been in a fine form of late. The Biancorossi are on a five-game unbeaten run in Serie A and they will be looking to build on back-to-back wins over Frosinone and Verona when they take on Sassuolo in a match which is of big importance for the relegation-threatened team. Carpi are on a five-game unbeaten run in the league and they are certainly capable of grabbing something from Saturday’s match against the Neroverdi. It has to be noted that the newcomers suffered only one loss in previous six games at their Stadio Alberto Braglia. Former Swansea City ace Jonathan de Guzman came as a substitute in the clash against Frosinone and scored the winner and there is every chance he will make his first start for Carpi against Sassuolo.

Crimi and Suagher are both suspended, while Bubnjic and Gnahore are both out of contention with injury. Fabrizio Castori has no other selection worries ahead of the visit of Sassuolo. Mbakogu is widely expected to lead the line for the hosts.

One win in previous five away games

Sassuolo are enjoying yet another successful season. The Neroverdi sit in 7th place in the Serie A standings and they are on the right track to finish the season in top half of the table. Eusebio di Francesco’s team are played out a 1-1 draw with Udinese at the weekend, with the team extending their unbeaten run at home to four matches. Sassuolo, though, have been struggling on the travels in the second half of the season and you should know that the Neroverdi recorded only one win in last five away fixtures in the Serie A. Gregorie Defrel has been in a fine form of late and given that he scored four goals in last six league games, the opposition defenders could find it hard to contain the French attacker. When the two teams met at Stadio Citta del Tricolore in the reverse fixture Sansone scored the winner for the Neroverdi (1-0) and he could prove a handful for the opposition back line as well.

Eusebio di Francesco can’t count on the likes of Gazzola and Antei (both suspension), while Missiroli is a major doubt and he will be assessed on the match day. Di Francesco is likely to stick to the 4-3-3 formation.

Quick Facts

  • Carpi aim to score their first ever goal against Sassuolo
  • Biancorossi are on a five-match unbeaten run
  • Sassuolo failed to keep a clean sheet in five of their last six away matches
  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in Sassuolo’s previous four games on the road
  • Carpi failed to keep a clean sheet in previous seven home fixtures in Serie A

Carpi vs Sassuolo betting tip

Saturday’s match at Stadio Alberto Braglia pits together the two sides with entirely different ambitions in the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign. Carpi aim to secure the elite division survival, while Sassuolo are eager to book their place in the Europa League places. The Neroverdi struggle on the travels and seeing that the Biancorossi are tough to beat at home, under 2.5 goals bet should be considered.
