Bologna vs Hellas Verona prediction

Hellas Verona will be aiming to keep their hopes of securing the Serie A survival alive with a win over out-of-sorts Bologna. The Rossoblu have been misfiring of late and it remains to be seen if they are capable of stopping the run of five games without a win.

Is scoring goals that hard?

After playing out three consecutive goalless draws with the likes of Juventus, Palermo and Carpi, Bologna suffered back-to-back defeats to the likes of Inter and Atalanta in previous two league games. The Rossoblu have been firing blanks in recent weeks and it has to be noted that they scored only one goal in last five league matches. The team’s main goal remains unchanged, Bologna are eager to secure the top flight survival and they are on the right track to accomplish the mission. Roberto Donadoni’s men are eight points clear of the relegation zone and they will not have a better chance than this to return to winning ways in the Serie A. The Rossoblu take on Hellas Verona in front of home fans and given the importance of the match, Roberto Donadoni’s team are likely to go all guns blazing at the rock-bottom team.

Gastaldello and Mbaye are both out of contention through suspension, while the likes of Destro and Morleo both miss the game with injury. Coach Roberto Donadoni has no other injury worries ahead of the visit of Verona.

Now or never

Following back-to-back defeats to the likes of Udinese and Sampdoria, Hellas Verona did remarkably well to spoil Fiorentina’s party at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Matchday 29. The Mastini desperately needed a win against Carpi in their last league match, but they eventually failed to get one. Luigi Delneri’s troops are on a four-game winless run in the league and seeing that they are nine points behind the safe zone, this has to go down as a must-win game for the visitors. Hellas Verona have yet to record a win on the road in the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign and, taking everything into account, it is no surprise the Mastini are regarded as underdogs in Monday’s game against Bologna. Key attacker Luca Toni has netted only five goals this season, meaning that the opposition defenders should not find it hard to contain the Italian veteran.

Ante Rebic is banned, while the likes of Fares and Siligardi are both sidelined with injury. Coach Luigi Delneri is likely to stick to the 4-4-2 formation.

Quick Facts

  • Bologna managed to keep four clean sheets in last five meetings with Verona
  • Rossoblu scored only one goal in last five league matches
  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in Bologna’s last three home games
  • Hellas Verona are after their first away win of the season
  • Mastini failed to keep a clean sheet in previous eight league fixtures
  • Verona failed to score in last two meetings with Bologna

Bologna vs Hellas Verona betting tip

Both sides aim to secure the La Liga survival, but given Hellas Verona’s poor away record, I believe that there is a big value in betting on Bologna this time out. The Rossoblu aim to regain their spot in the top half of the season and I believe that the time has come for Roberto Donadooni’s troops to put an end to their five-game winless run in the league.

Tip: Bologna to win
