Monaco vs Caen prediction
Having dropped two points in the Ligue 1 derby against Olympique Marseille at the weekend, Monaco will be aiming to return to winning ways in the national championship when they take on in-form Caen at their Stade Louis II.
Good performance against Marseille
Monaco were on the verge of beating Marseille at Stade Velodrome at the weekend, but OM eventually scored a late equalizer. However, despite dropping two points in the 3-3 draw with Marseille, les Rouges et Blancs stayed in the race for a place in the Champions League. Leonardo Jardim’s men have been in a fine form of late and it has to be noted that they have suffered only one loss in previous nine home fixtures in the national championship. Monaco are eyeing their third consecutive win at Stade Louis II and you should bear in mind that they managed to keep a clean sheet in each of previous two home fixtures in the Ligue 1. A win over Caen would see the hosts climb to the Champions League berth and I am positive that Leonardo Jardim’s troops will go all guns blazing at Patrice Garande’s troops. Monaco attacker, though, struggle in front of goal, and it has to be noted that Carillo and El Shaarawy have yet to open their goal-scoring accounts in the 2015/2016 Ligue 1 campaign.
Jeremy Toulalan remains in the recovery room, while striker Lacina Traore is sidelined through suspension. The likes of Nabil Dirar and Ivan Cavaleiro are out of contention as well.
Impressive win at Bordeaux
Caen finished the 2014/2015 Ligue 1 campaign in 13th position in the standings, nine points clear of the relegation zone. Patrice Garande remained in charge of the team and the 55-year-old tactician is undisputedly the right man for the job. The team have been producing scintillating displays in the 2015/2016 Ligue 1 campaign and, as a result, they occupy second place in the standings ahead of match day 16. Caen impressed in Sunday’s clash against Bordeaux and they will be looking to build on the 4-1 victory over les Girondins when they take on Monaco at Stade Louis II. Patrice Garande’s troops totally outplayed Bordeaux at the weekend, but I believe that they will be happy with one point from the Monaco game. French attacker Andy Delort has been in a promising form of late and he is widely expected to lead the attack for the visitors against les Rouges et Blancs.
Important defender Alaeddine Yahia (11/0) remains on the sidelines, but coach Patrice Garande has no fresh injury worries ahead of the trip to Monaco. The Caen boss is likely to stick to the 4-3-3 formation.
Monaco vs Caen betting tip
In their last meeting in the national championship Monaco recorded a routine 3-0 win over Caen and seeing that les Rouges et Blancs produced a very good performances in the 3-3 draw with Olympique Marseille at the weekend, I believe that the hosts are capable of starting a new winning run in the Ligue 1. Caen did defeat Bordeaux in their last league match, but Leonardo Jardim’s men will pose a much bigger threat for the visitors than their previous opponents.
Tip: Home win
