Hull City vs Leicester City prediction

Having recovered well from the Premier League relegation, Hull City take on Leicester City in the Capital One Cup high on confidence, drawn from an eight-match unbeaten run. The Foxes are flying high as well having climbed to fifth in the Premiership standings, with Claudio Ranieri now set to field a second-string side at KC Stadium.

Is straight return to Premiership on the cards?

Hull City were somewhat unfortunate to suffer relegation from the Premier League, but everybody at KC Stadium quickly regrouped and decided to work hard in an attempt to take the club back into the best league in the world. While the Tigers saw some star players leave, they managed to keep hold of quite a few first team regulars, and also added the likes of Shaun Maloney, Moses Odubajo, Sam Clucas and Chuba Akpom to their ranks among others. And with Jake Livermore overcoming a drug problem to re-establish himself as an important cog in Steve Bruce’s machinery, Hull City have looked thoroughly impressive of late. The switch to 4-4-2 formation has worked like a charm for the seasoned manager, with his side taking down Swansea in the Capital One Cup while climbing to second in the Championship on the back of a seven match unbeaten run. Hull City not only took ten points from last four games, but also conceded just one goal in the process and if Claudio Ranieri stays true to himself and leave all his key men out of the side, the Tigers will stand a decent chance of extending the amazing run of results.

With Curties Davies still sidelined, Harry Maguire will deputize for Alex Bruce, while Shaun Maloney, Tom Huddlestone and Momo Diame are all pushing for starting places.

Ranieri takes his players out for a pizza

Claudio Ranieri has repeatedly proved the doubters wrong after he was unfairly criticised for his alleged failure at Stamford Bridge and he has welcomed his second opportunity in the Premier League with both hands. The Italian has turned Leicester City into one of the biggest surprise packages of the season, with his side playing total football to climb to European positions. But, being true to Italian school of football, Ranieri was far from happy with his side conceding goals for fun and he promised to take the team for a pizza the first time they keep a clean sheet. That proved to be good enough incentive for the Foxes to record a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace, with the colourful coach then keeping his promise and using it as another opportunity to further improve the dressing room atmosphere. But, with the Premier League campaign clearly having the priority at the moment, the manager has hinted that he will again make wholesale changes to the starting line-up, just like he did for matches against Rochdale and West Ham. And while Leicester City emerged victorious from those two games, there is every chance the likes of Vardy, Mahrez, Drinkwater and co will be sorely missed at KC Stadium.

Matty James and Jeffrey Schlupp are out through injury and suspension respectively, whilst Nathan Dyer is cup-tied.

Hull City vs Leicester City betting tip

This Hull City side are not far from the Premier League level and going into the clash high on confidence, the Tigers look they can outclass what will be Leicester’s second-string side. The Foxes lack proper replacements for their key men and this will be there for everyone to see at KC Stadium.
