Sevilla vs Real Sociedad prediction

Sevilla will be looking to extend their winning run at home round to 14 games when they take on Real Sociedad at their Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Sunday. Los Sevillanos are eager to book their place in the Champions League, but beating La Real is easier said than done.

Pizjuan – the fortress

Sevilla are still playing on three fronts in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign. Los Sevillanos did well to make it to the Copa del Rey final, while beating Basel in the Europa League knockout stages, but they have not been impressive in the La Liga this season. Unai Emery’s troops have already dropped a lot of points on the travels this term and it has to be noted that they have yet to record a win away from home in the national championship. On the other hand, Sevilla have been producing splendid displays in Andalusia and they will be looking to extend their winning run to fourteen games when they square off against Real Sociedad at “Pizjuan”. Kevin Gameiro has been producing thrilling displays this season and the French attacker will be the man to watch in the home team.

Marco Andreolli is sidelined with injury, while key midfielder Ever Banega returns to contention after missing the Real Madrid game through suspension. Yevhen Konoplyanka is doubtful and he faces a late fitness test.

Five-game winless run

Real Sociedad, on the other hand, are on a quest to secure the top flight survival. La Real occupy 12th place in the standings ahead of the trip to Seville and they are seven points clear of the relegation zone at the moment. The Basque outfit have been struggling to find their best form of late and they will be looking to stop the run of five games without a win in La Liga when they take on Sevilla at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Real Sociedad attackers have been firing guns of late and the fact that Eusebio Sacristan’s team scored only one goal in last four league matches is not giving the fans a reason for optimism ahead of the Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan clash. Carlos Vela was not on the international duty with Mexico and he is likely to pose a big threat for the opposition back line. Anyhow, given Sevilla’s impressive home record, I do not believe that away win should be considered this time out.

Sergio Canales and Imanol Agirretxe both miss the game with injury, while Joseba Saldua and De La Bella have both overcome their respective injuries and they should play some part in Sunday’s game against Sevilla.

Quick Facts

  • Sevilla are eyeing their 14th consecutive win at home in La Liga
  • Sevillanos netted 2+ goals in seven of their previous eight home fixtures in the league
  • Under 2.5 goals were scored in five of Real Sociedad’s last six league games
  • The Basques are on a five-game winless run in La LIga
  • In previous two meetings between the two teams in Seville the hosts emerged triumphant

Sevilla vs Real Sociedad betting tip

Sevilla are six points behind the Champions League berth and this has to go down as a must-win game for the hosts. Los Sevillanos have been impressive on home soil this season and seeing that Real Sociedad do not seem to be at the top of their game at the moment, home win appears on the horizon.

Tip: Sevilla to win
