Rayo Vallecano vs Getafe prediction

Rayo Vallecano and Getafe, the two capital clubs, take on each other in the local derby at Estadio del Rayo Vallecano on Friday night. The two sides are level on points in La Liga standings and a close encounter appears on the cards.

Difficulties at the back

Fans around the world enjoy watching Rayo Vallecano’s game. Los Vallecanos have been sticking to their attacking style of play throughout the season, but the team have been struggling at the back in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign. The capital club failed to keep a clean sheet in previous seven league games and it has to be noted that they recorded their last win in the national championship on 6 February, when they outplayed Las Palmas in front of home fans. Paco Jemez’s men have been slipping down the standings week by week and they are currently level on points with their next rivals Getafe, who sit in the relegation zone. Friday’s game against the fellow capital club is of big importance and no doubt the hosts will fight tooth and nail in the relegation six-pointer in order to record their sixth home win of the season.

Adri Embarba and Ze Castro are both sidelined through suspension, while the likes of Cobeno, Rat, Ebert and Tono all miss the game with injury. Manucho is likely to lead the line for the hosts against Getafe.

Last win on 17 January

Getafe were producing fine performances in the first half of the season. Los Azulones were impressive at home ground, but the team suffered a dip in form in January. Fran Escriba’s men have yet to overcome the crisis and the situation in the suburbs of Madrid is alarming ahead of the local derby against Rayo Vallecano. The lack of confidence seems to be the team’s biggest problem at the moment and seeing that Getafe conceded ten goals in previous two away games in La Liga, it is no surprise they are regarded as underdogs in Friday’s game against Paco Jemez’s troops. As things stand now, the visitors will be more than happy with one point from the opening match of day 31 of the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign. Los Azulones head into the game following a 1-1 draw with Eibar, but it has to be noted that they suffered the equalizing goal in the dying minutes of the clash.

Carlos Vigaray is sidelined with injury, but there are no suspended players in the away team. Victor Rodriguez is widely expected to return to the starting line-up.

Quick Facts

  • Rayo Vallecano are on a seven-game winless run in La Liga
  • Rao scored 2+ goals in four of their last seven league games
  • Los Vallecanos failed to keep a clean sheet in previous three home matches
  • Getafe are on a five-match losing run on the road
  • Los Azulones fialed to score in previous four away fixtures in La Liga

Rayo Vallecano vs Getafe betting tip

A win is a must for both Rayo Vallecano and Getafe and I am positive that both teams will adopt an attack-minded approach in Friday’s clash in Madrid. Rayo Vallecano are capable of scoring a lot of goals, but given their poor defence, there is every chance both sides will find the net in the relegation six-pointer.

Tip: Both teams to score

Odds: 1.70 (7/10) @bet365
