Club Brugge vs Midtjylland 1-3 (2015/2021 Europa League)

Midtjylland vs Club Brugge prediction

MCH Arena will host Thursday’s Europa League match between Midtjylland and Club Brugge. A place in the knockout stages is at stake and no doubt there will be fireworks when the two sides take on each other in their final group game.

On the downtrend

Midtjylland kicked off their Europa League campaign in style, with the team beating Legia and Club Brugge in first two group games. However, the Danish side then suffered a dip in form, but despite suffering three consecutive defeats in Group D they are still in the race for a place in the knockout stages. The Ulvene face a must-win situation in Thursday’s match against Club Brugge and it has to be noted that the Danes were not into action in the national championship at the weekend. Midtjylland do not seem to be at the top of their game at the moment; the team have recorded no more than one win in previous nine matches in all competitions, but the match against Club Brugge could be the turning point for the hosts. You should bear in mind that the Danish team will finish second in Group D if they beat the Belgian outfit or with a draw should Legia fail to upset Napoli at Stadio San Paolo.

Goalkeeper Johan Dahlin has yet to overcome his injury, while Swedish defender Petter Andersson is a major doubt and he will be monitored ahead of the kick-off. Coach Jess Thorup has no other selection worries ahead of the visit of Club Brugge.

Only a win counts for Blauw-Zwart

Club Brugge did well to beat Legia Warszawa in their penultimate home fixture in Group D, but they failed to grab something from the Napoli game (0-1). As a result, the Belgian side face a must-win situation in their final group game against Midtjylland and they are widely expected to go all guns blazing at the Danes when the two teams take on each other at MCH Arena. However, given Club Brugge’s poor away record in the Europa League, I do not believe that there is a big value in betting on the visitors this time out. You should know that Michelle Preud’homme’s troops have conceded six goals in previous two away fixtures in the process, with the team suffering a heavy 5-0 loss to Napoli at Stadio San Paolo. On the other hand, the Blauw-Zwart are leading the chase for the Belgian Pro League title and it seems as if they are fully focused on winning the national championship.

Bjorn Engels is rated doubtful and it remains to be seen if he will recover in time to face Midtjylland. Laurens De Bock is definitely out of contention (ankle problem). Jelle Vossen will be the man to watch in the away side.

Midtjylland vs Club Brugge betting tip

When the two sides met in Belgium earlier in the process Midtjylland recorded a thrilling 3-1 win over Club Brugge, meaning that the Danish outfit would be happy with one point from Thursday’s clash against the Blauw-Zwart. As I have already mentioned, the Belgians struggle on the travels and seeing that the hosts will have a lot of opportunities to attack their rivals on the break, I believe that there is a certain value in betting on Jess Thorup’s charges.
