Wolfsburg vs Borussia M’gladbach prediction

Buoyed by a 4-0 win over Hannover, Wolfsburg take on Borussia M’gladbach on day 25 of the 2015/2016 Bundesliga campaign. Die Wohlen crushed Stuttgart (4-0) on Wednesday evening, meaning that a real football festival is on the cards.

That’s what Wolves needed

Wolfsburg desperately needed a win over relegation-threatened Hannover in midweek and they got one. The Wolves outclassed the tock-bottom side at HDI-Arena and they will be looking to get back on course with a triumph over Borussia M’gladbach. Dieter Hecking’s men are with one foot in the Champions League quarter-finals, but they will have to find their best form in days to come if they are to take part in the elite competition for the second consecutive season. Wolfsburg are five points behind die Wohlen in the Bundesliga standings and, no doubt, the hosts will leave their hearts on the field in Saturday’s derby in order to melt Borussia’s advantage to just two points. Andre Schurrle scored a hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Hannover and the opposition defenders are likely to have their work cut out for them when facing the former Chelsea attacker. Yet another man to watch in the home team will be Julian Draxler.

The likes of Benaglio, Ascues, Horn, Jung, Segun, Naldo and Dost remain in the recovery room. Max Kruse is widely expected to lead the line for the hosts against Borussia M’gladbach.

A team with two faces

Borussia M’gladbach endured a surprisingly slow start to the season, but the team have been producing outstanding displays in Bundesliga ever since Andre Schubert took over the reins. Die Wohlen hae been impressive at home ground in 2016, with the team beating the likes of Werder Bremen, Koln and Stuttgart in front of home fans, but they have not been as successful on the travels, having recorded only one win in previous six away games in the national championship. Borussia M’gladbach, though, impressed in the 4-0 win over in-form Stuttgart in midweek, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Saturday’s encounter against Wolfsburg. Die Wohlen sit in the Champions League berth ahead of the trip to Wolfsburg, but they could drop to sixth place in the standings after Matchday 25. Brazilian attacker Raffael is enjoying a very successful season and the Brazilian attacker will be looking to extend his goal-scoring run against Wolves.

Coach Andre Schubert can’t count on the likes of Alvaro Dominguez, Jantschke, Stranzl, Wendt and Schulz (all injury), but there are not suspended players in the away team. Thorgan Hazard is likely to keep his place in the starting XI.

Quick Facts

  • Wolfsburg recorded only one win in previous five home matches
  • Wolves will be with one eye on Tuesday’s Champions League game against Gent
  • Borussia M’gladbach are after their third straight win over Wolfsburg
  • Die Wohlen are on a five-match winless run on the road
  • Andre Schubert’s team recorded their last win at Wolfsburg back in 2003

Wolfsburg vs Borussia M’gladbach betting tip

Saturday’s match at VOLKSWAGEN ARENA pits together the two teams who are eyeing a place in the Champions League. Both teams impressed in midweek’s fixtures and given that both teams will go for a win this time out, I am tempted to put my money on both teams to score. Taking everything into account, there is every chance we will see goals galore n Wolfsburg.

Tip: Both teams to score
