Hoffenheim vs Hamburg prediction

Hoffenheim and Hamburger take on each other in a relegation six-pointer at Wirsol Rhein-Neckar-Arena. Markus Gidsol’s men are after their only second win of the season and no doubt Friday’s match against Die Rothosen is of big importance for the hosts.

Die Kraichgauer struggling to find their form

Despite producing a fine performance against Wolfsburg at Volkswagen Arena at the weekend Hoffenheim eventually suffered a 4-2 loss to Dieter Hecking’s troops. Die Krachgauer have recorded no more than one win in the 2015/2016 Bundesliga campaign and they will surely give their best to return to winning ways when they take on Hamburg on Friday evening. Hoffenheim shared the spoils with the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Stuttgart in last two home fixtures in the national championship and they are certainly capable of scoring in the clash against Die Rothosen. Kevin Volland is the team’s top scorer and he is widely expected to lead the line for the hosts against Hamburg. Kevin Kuranyi, on the other hand, has yet to find his from and it remains to be seen if he will open his goal-scoring account. Yet another man to watch in the home team will be Eduardo Vargas, who helped Chile record a win over Brazil in the 2018 World Cup qualifier.

The likes of Hamad, Herdling, Malbasic and Zuber are all out of contention. Korean defender Jin-Su Kim is pushing for a start after coming from the bench in the 4-2 win defeat to Wolfsburg.

Is scoring goals that hard?

Hamburger do not sit in the relegation zone ahead of Friday’s clash against Hoffenheim, but the team’s recent form is anything but good. Following back-to-back defeats to the likes of Schalke 04 and Hertha BSC Die Rothosen played out a goalless draw with Bayer Leverkusen in their last Bundesliga fixture and it has to be noted that the team have netted no more than one goal in last five league matches. Bruno Labbadia’s men obviously struggle in front of goal, but, on the other hand, the team look solid at the back and you should have in mind that they have kept four clean sheets in last six league fixtures. The visitors will surely rely on their defence in Friday’s game against Hoffenheim and they will surely have opportunities to attack their rivals on the break. A man to watch in the away side will be former Tottenham star Lewis Holtby, who has netted one goal in the 2015/2016 Bundesliga campaign.

Coach Bruno Labadia can’t count on the likes of Hirzel, Gotz, Marcos, Diaz, Hunt, Kacar, Muller and Olic for the Hoffenheim game. Lasogga is likely to be deployed up front as a lone striker.

Hoffenheim vs Hamburg betting tip

In their last meeting at Rhein Neckar-Arena Hoffenheim recorded a 3-0 win over Hamburger. Mark Gidsol’s men, though, have been struggling at the start of the new campaign and I am not tempted to put my money on the hosts this time out. Die Rothosen, on the other hand, look solid at the back and seeing that they are likely to adopt a defence-minded approach in Friday’s game against Die Kraichgauer, there is every chance we will see a low-scoring affair in Hoffenheim.

Tip: Under 2.5 goals

Odds: 2.10 (11/10) at Unibet
