James Rodriguez out with torn thigh muscle injuryBoth Colombia and Real Madrid have suffered a major blow as it was revealed that James Rodriguez has suffered a torn thigh muscle on international duty.

The 24-year-old had to come off on the hour mark of the international friendly vs Peru with what was believed to be a minor knock, but it is now clear the injury is more serious than first thought.

Real Madrid have released a statement revealing that their star player has suffered a muscle tear in his thigh.

“Following the tests carried out on James Rodríguez today in the Sanitas La Moraleja University Hospital, the player has been diagnosed with a tear in his left thigh muscle, resulting from a knock he sustained during the match between Colombia and Peru. His condition will be evaluated,” the statement read.

According to Futbolred, the highly rated footballer will be out between three and six weeks, meaning he is a major doubt for Los Cafeteros’ 2018 World Cup qualifiers vs Peru and Uruguay.

Colombia start their qualifying campaign on October 8 at home against La Blanquirroja before facing La Celeste on the road five days later.

There have been more bad news for coach Jose Pekerman as important midfielder Macnelly Torres (39/3) suffered a ligament injury at the weekend, but he should not be out for more than ten days.
