Atletico Madrid starlet Lucas Hernandez admits that he wouldn’t mind representing the Spanish national team at international level.
The 20-year-old, who has been at Vicente Calderon since he was 11, has enjoyed a real breakthrough season this term.
Hernandez performed admirably in some very important games as Jose Maria Gimenez and Stefan Savic were out injured, and he was especially impressive in the Champions League quarter-finals against Barcelona.
The highly rated centre-back was born in Marseille and has represented France national team at the Under-19 level, but he has confessed to pondering a switch of allegiance.
“Play for Spain? We’ll see. It’s a complicated decision and until I play for the senior international team anything can change,” Hernandez was quoted as saying
“Spain has given me everything. I’m grateful to Spain. If I play for Spain or not is a personal decision.”
Considering the fact that La Furia Roja coach Vicente Del Bosque has problems with finding suitable replacements for Gerard Pique and Sergio Ramos, there is an outside chance Hernandez will be considered for Spain’s Euro 2021 squad.
