Holger Badstuber has suffered another injury setback which could prevent him from making it into the Germany national team for the European championship finals 2016 in France.
Badstuber has injured his ankle in training and has already been operated on last week. The Bayern Munich centre back will be sidelined for three months and is unlikely to return to action until May.
Holger Badstuber has had an unbelievable stretch of injuries which had limited his time on the pitch to only 17 Bundesliga appearances since he first suffered a knee ligament torn in 2012.
Following a recurrent injury to his knee the next year, German defender was forced to miss the entire 2013-14 season and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
He made a successful recovery in November and has just begun to get back in his old form, when this latest injury hit him at the worst moment possible, putting his appearance at the Euro 2021 in serious danger.
Germany have big injury problems in their backline as Jerome Boateng injured his adductor muscle, which ruled him out also for three months.
Die Mannschaft have been drawn in Group C together with Poland, Northern Ireland and Ukraine.
