Cuper announces Egypt squad for AFCON qualifier vs Chad

Cuper announced Egypt squad for AFCON qualifier vs ChadFormer Inter Milan coach Hector Cuper has unveiled a 27-man squad that will represent Egypt in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad.

The Pharaohs began the qualifying campaign with a comfortable win over Tanzania and will now face Chad on the road on 4 September.

The Egyptian Football Association has announced the list of 27 players that will be in contention for the aforementioned qualifier, with coach Hector Cuper forced to make one change.

Al Ahly midfielder Saleh Gomaa (11/0) had been supposed to be included in the roster, but having failed to recover from a knee injury, he made way for Tarek Hamed (2/0).

As expected, a total of 20 home-based players have made the squad, including 18 footballers from Al Ahly and Zamalek.

Coach Hector Cuper will trim down the provisional squad in the coming days, before the squad depart for N’Djamena.

Egypt squad:

Goalkeepers: Sherif Ekrami (Ahly), Ahmed El-Shenawy (Zamalek), Ali Lotfy (ENPPI), Mahdy Soliman (Smouha);

Defenders: Saad Samir, Hussein El Sayed (both Ahly), Ali Gabr, Omar Gaber, Hazem Emam, Hamada Tolba (all Zamalek), Ahmed Hegazy (Fiorentina), Mohamed Abdel-Shafy (Al-Ahli), Rami Rabia (Sporting Lisbon)

Midfielders: Ramadan Sobhi, Momen Zakarya (both Ahly), Ahmed Tawfiq, Ibrahim Salah, Mahmoud Kahraba, Tarek Hamed (all Zamalek), Mohamed Elneny (Basel), Mahmoud Trezeguet (Anderlecht).

Forwards: Amr Gamal, Mahmoud Zaki (both Ahly), Bassem Morsi, Ahmed Hassan Mekki (both Zamalek), Mohamed Salah (Roma), Ahmed Hassan Koka (Rio Ave).
